Blue was taken from us this time, and we're prepared to do everything to get her back, so why in the mother-fucking-hell did we give her up and avoid speaking her goddamn name the first time?
Hindsight is a dick. Linda's a bitch. I'm an ass. The other guys are assholes, too. God, what a pathetic lot we are.
We were so close to building something new and amazing with Blue. The amount of hope I had for our future drove away my urge to drink and drown out the negative thoughts in my head. I may be just as wild and fun as Jared, but my mind has always been a darker place.
Felix is my only light now. Violet, too—she needs us. It's easier to focus on other people's problems than my own. I'm pretty sure that's universal, though, so I'm trying not to beat myself up over it.
I'm not completely lost to the world. I can function enough to mediate all the arguments around me. And there have been many. Far too many in such a small amount of time to be socially acceptable.
Felix and Jared are slightly out of control. All they're doing is heightening the anxiety around them, which has pushed me further back into my pit of depression. I'd venture to guess it's forced Roman to be calm and collected.
Bethany's observation ruffled some feathers. Specifically Jared. The scowl that twisted Jared's features shocked me.
My kind, happy friend scared a woman, which is not only unacceptable but super fucking out of character. Even hours later, Jared looks ready to fight. So, of course, another threat barrels through Blue's front door.
I just really fucking wish Jared's reaction to Levi's rage wasn't reckless. I've only ever witnessed my friend punch someone once in all the time that I've known him. That old fucker had it coming with the way he was disrespecting our girl.
"You little shit!" Levi roars and launches himself at Jared. My eyes are glued to the blood dripping from his chin to really comprehend what's happening.Blue was bleeding too...
Jared's body hitting the floor shocks me out of my stupor. Roman and Felix are shouting, but it's Violet's tearful scream that really snaps me out of it.
"STOP!"
Like I've done many times, I reach for the opposing man to pull him away from my family member. The last time I did this, I received a split lip and a big ass scolding from Felix for putting myself in dangerous situations for no reason.
He was right. I don't always need to go in gunsblazing—my biceps are my guns—but it's never for no reason. Protecting my friends and having their backs will always be a good enough reason for a beating.
This time isn't any different. Just as Levi straddles Jared's stomach, I throw myself at his side and tumble to the floor in a mess of limbs and snarls. "Don't fucking touch him!" I spit, grappling for the upper hand.
"He punchedme, asshole!" Levi grunts as he manages to grab my arm. He's much bigger and far more skilled than I am, for fuck’s sake, so of course he flips me onto my stomach and twists my arm behind my back.
I refuse to whimper, but I can't contain my flinch when he tests my shoulder's mobility. More cursing and threats are spewed around us, but all I can really make out is the blood pounding in my ears.
"Let him up," a new voice commands. To my shock, Levi relaxes his hold on me just as a pair of white tennis shoes enters my line of sight. Glancing up, I see Kevin, Blue's bouncer bestie.
I'm about to thank him for the assist when he's shoved to the side by my furious boyfriend.Shit."Felix, don't," I beg.
"Get the fuck off of him," Felix growls, eyes pinned above me. His fists clench when Levi tightens his hold instead. With dirty blond hair in disarray and tattoos on full display, Felix looks like an avenging demon.
"Back the fuck up," Levi retorts.
I stifle a groan as Felix cocks his arm back ever so slightly.Where's Roman? The last thing we need is another hothead punching Levi's perfect face again.
Myperfect face on the other hand is going numb the longer it's smooshed into the floorboards. "Felix, back up. I'm fine." I'm not sure why I thought I could reason with my man. He puts the pro in protective.
Felix looks at me then, and I wish I would have had the foresight to smooth out my frown because one look at me and he tenses even more. "You arenotfine."
"Alright, alright, enough!" Roman claps his hands very loudly, but the three of us don't move. Or I should say Levi and Felix don't. I'm still stuck.
Glancing around, I try to find Jared, but he's not in my limited view and neither is Roman. Felix is all I see, and I'm getting more and more worried by the second that he's going to do something stupid.
Soft footsteps draw my attention for a moment, then a door snicks shut further away.Shit.
"I said, enough!" Roman bellows. "You've scared away Violet, you pricks!"
Levi curses and releases me immediately following Roman's statement. Felix wastes no time in hoisting me up to my feet. Swaying, I rub the right side of my face to gain some feeling back.
"Took you long enough," I huff at Roman.
