Drake reasoned, “You didn’t have plans, Melanie.” Elise snorted, “Yes, she did. Because of course I invited her. Ladybug’s basically my sister, and she did have plans. I told her about girls’ night on Wednesday.” Cassie offered, “My Guard is coming.”

Jason snorted, “To Guard you. They don’t give a damn about my sister.” I replied, “That’s not even kind of true. Melanie is a Duchess in the Hackura realm so they do care.” If they could protect them both, they would. Cassie was their priority, but they would never let anything happen to Melanie if they could stop it.

Paige said, “Your sister is perfectly capable all on her own.” Dalton frowned, “Paige, your powers aren’t back.” Paige shrugged, “They are but in case you didn’t notice I held my own.” When did her powers come back? Melanie winked at her.

Dalton sighed, “I did notice that.” Ben said, “Are you a bunch of saps are SERIOUSLY considering giving into this?” Dakota snorted, “I think you’re about to join the saps yourself, Ben.” Dylan howled with laughter as Esther McAlister walked into the room and crossed her arms.

Esther said, “Ben, your daughters have been looking forward to seeing their niece all week. They are already there waiting for the Black Mountain group to show up. Would you like to call them and tell them that you’re trying to keep a twenty year old woman from going to a club owned by Chase Daniels, in our ally’s territory home and lock in her mate’s room?”

I interjected, “It’s our room but sure.” Esther raised an eyebrow at me while Ben sighed in defeat. Esther said, “You all can plan while they go out.” She squeezed Melanie’s handsaying, “Have fun, dear.” Elise squealed, “Quick Cass, pop us out before they change their minds.” They popped out.

Jason, Tristan, and Drake looked at each other. Drake said, “I don’t recall changing my mind.” Sam sighed, “Ladybug is an adult. She’s basically been without supervision, or needing permission, for six years.” Peter didn’t comment but I saw he had thoughts by the clench of his jaw.

EJ was worriedly looking at him. My dad said, “Angel, we need whiskey. So much whiskey.” Dylan shouted, “I have the popcorn! Don’t anyone worry! Lacy had Danver bringing over some because she’s the literal best!” He laid a hell of a kiss on his mate.

I snorted and walked outside as a full glass of whiskey appeared in my hand. I downed it. EJ came out and sat beside me in the yard first. My brother asked, “How are you doing?” I laughed, “My mate is a literal legend. Melanie is the white wolf. I did mark her though, so that’s awesome.”

Tristan snorted, “There will be no talking about marking my sister.” Jason sat down offering, “Seconded.” EJ snapped me another drink. I held up my glass teasing them, “And you all thought the Fairies entertained you. Now your sister is a legend our parents told us about. Cheers, everyone.”

Everyone looked around then started to drink too. Gage came out and said, “I mean, that’s not the worst toast for today.” Phil snorted, “Given his day we will give it to our Alpha.” This had been both the best and the strangest day of my life so far. Those seemed to keep coming lately.

Fed Up

Melanie was excited to finally have this moment with Xander. We’d waited so long to mark each other, and I really didn’t want to talk anymore. I lost my mind when he started kissing my marking spot. It was more intense than it ever had been.

Freya explained, “That’s me. Since I am now at full strength, and you are of age, the need for him to mark us basically triples.” It felt like I’d need to crawl out of my skin if he didn’t mark me in the next few minutes.

I quickly explained to Xander that I was not here for foreplay today. The only thing that made me feel sane was my mate’s hands touching me. Everything inside me felt like my skin was exploding where his hands were. I was already orgasming.

What in the hell was happening? Did I care? Nope… not even a little. What I did care about was feeling Xander’s canines in my neck. It was consuming my thoughts. When it finally happened, I had an out of body experience as his teeth pierced my skin.

Freya snickered, “I’m coming forward to mark mate.” Currently, my wolf could do whatever she wanted. She could tell me she was going to take over the world and I would have cared less. It felt like every little piece of me clicked into place when my canines pierced Xander’s skin. I vaguely became aware he marked me with his Hackura teeth too.

Freya linked me, “Let’s take him to our plane.” We had a plane? That was weird. I asked, “How do we bring them? Mind you I’m assuming this is the place I’ve seen you where you didn’t tell me you… were you.”

Freya confirmed, “That’s the place. I’ll bring Oden. You focus on Xander and just call his mind to yours.” Sure… I could do that. Not super clear on the instructions… but I could probablymanage. I closed my eyes and focused everything in me on Xander.

I opened my eyes in our plane, back in the creek. Xander was standing just in front of me. Somehow, he got here without ending up in the creek. I smiled despite the fact that I got drenched and he didn’t…. because, it worked! I had brought him with me.

Freya teased, “Of course it did. It’s a natural instinct for you now that you know who we are.” I gasped, “You can talk to me here?! Where was my heads up? Like oh hey by the way… it’s me… Freya… I’m the white wolf and by extension so are you.” Freya admitted, “I didn’t want you to panic. Plus, we had a lot going on.” I sighed, thinking her reason over. Ultimately, my wolf was right.

I walked over to Xander as Freya and Oden trotted off together. It was nice being here this way. Our wolf sides playing together while Xander and I having time together ourselves. I looked around what I now knew to be my own personal plane. That was just a crazy thought. I smiled because I really did like it here.

Xander and I talked about me being the white wolf. I linked Freya, “Umm I knew Trevor would be in their custody and that Xander would protect me… That’s not really what I meant. People will come at our pack for me…. A lot.” Freya said, “We will be ok and so will the pack.”

In truth, I could protect myself, but… what about the innocent lives that could be lost because of the color of my fur? Freya commented, “If only we were mated to a super powerful royal Fairy and Hackura who is also a powerful wolf.”

I snorted, “That’s why I’m mated to him, isn’t it?” Freya answered, “You were always meant for him. I chose you to be my human because of your own characteristics. That you weremated to him was an added bonus that made you as my choice agreeable to those involved in the decision.”

I didn’t want to think about that. Thinking about the events logically, I knew a lot of people wouldn’t believe anyone had seen a white wolf. But the ones that did…. most were likely to be bad people. You’d have the ones who were curious and then the power hungry jerks who’d want to kidnap me.

Xander pulled me out of those thoughts by pointing out we needed to go back. I didn’t want to deal with this. I was so tired of having meetings about myself. I didn’t want to talk about what happened to me. I didn’t want to talk about being the white wolf. I didn’t want to talk about any of it.

I wanted to shove it in the closet and lock the door. I wanted some normalcy, but clearly normal was just not in the cards for me. Freya snorted, “You are a genius who came up with Laxenread, the wolf serum, and a smattering of others you have yet to disclose to everyone. You found a way to protect the Hood from Mintor poisonings. Plus, you are the leader of the Resistance. Normal was never in the cards for you, my dear.”

Did my wolf have to be right and make excellent points all the time? We headed back. I figured Xander could get back how I did, through the creek. I closed my eyes and then we were back in the treehouse.

I linked Freya, “Can you make me pass out from being marked?” Freya snorted, “No. We will sleep a little longer than normal. Actually, for you, it will probably mean sleeping eight hours; like normal people. Being marked doesn’t wipe us out. We aren’t like other wolves.”
