EJ chuckled, “The fact that you used to live there isn’t a question, Ladybug. I know that, but my brother conjured all your things back here.” I blushed because that was true… in way. Xander definitely did not conjure my Resistance things here.
I picked at my sleeve, “I mean… not everything... I have other things... and stuff... I did leave some stuff in Addison’s’ room...Oh god... Did she even get the chance to pack? I mean... not that Black Path Females usually have a lot but…”
Xander popped next to EJ before he leaned down and kissed me. My mate pulled back teasing, “Big brother, you’re making my mate ramble.” EJ smirked, “But it is so fun to do. Teasing is what big brothers are for. Plus, she gets all flustered and that tells me I asked good questions. Ones that Ladybug here has the answers to but isn’t giving up just yet.” My face was scarlet red.
EJ laughed, “You really are a bad liar, Ladybug.” I reasoned, “I didn’t lie about anything. I didn’t even reply yet.” EJ chuckled, “Your face said a lot. I mean the whole conversation we just had though. You evaded. Keep your secrets for now, Ladybug. You are welcome to anything inside that facility for your experiments.”
I happily agreed, “Ok… Thanks, EJ.” My future brother in law nodded, “I’m really happy for both you and my brother. We should all go on a double date sometime. I would enjoy it, and I know Elise would.” I grinned because I’d dreamed of the four of us going out together. Xander agreed, “Of course.” EJ smiled and popped away.
I sat in on a few more Luna disputes and handled two per Elise’s directives. Nothing as insane as the wrong colored flower though. The week passed by quickly. My family was around, even my grandparents, but not my mom’s parents. They still hadn’t surfaced.
Xander was pretty busy with meetings. Next week he said we’d be in the gym a lot. I could live with that. Friday, I started out in the gym. Elise told me the girls were going out tonight in Yellow Hills territory. My attendance was apparently non-negotiable.
I made sure the girls meant my friends too, and Elise confirmed they all were coming. I sighed in relief and told her I’d be there. I ended up going to the field to dance. I felt reallyinspired. Xander linked me, “So, I suck.” He does? When? Was I missing some part of our sex life?
I replied, “No you don’t... I’m fairly certain… I’m the one who sucks your… ummm manhood… that I totally do not call a weapon of mass destruction….the point is….you lick… so… unless I missed something….you do not suck.” Freya howled with laughter in my head.
EJ linked me, “Whatever you said to Alexander, I must know about immediately.” I answered him, “I… was... I…” Xander’s link cut me off, “Oh my god. You didn’t miss anything and you’re right. I do lick you and you suck me. I meant I forgot to tell you about something. That is why I suck, not because of what we do in bed.”
My face was so red I was glad no one could see. I asked, “What’s going on?” My mate answered, “We have a celebration in Blue Moon that we are attending. I can pop back for you. Elise said she left out an outfit for you.”
I laughed and replied, “I’ve never been to Blue Moon… which is odd… since it’s my mom’s home pack… but it’s true. I know how to get there though….and I’ve been on the border. Plus... I'm pretty fast. If Elise didn’t leave a dress out... I can drive my bike. If she did, I’ll bring my car. I don’t get to drive it very much. Pants give me options… I can run and be there quick as a flash.”
Xander laughed, “Ok. I really am sorry I forgot to tell you.” I told him, “I’m really not worried about it. I never got to go to these… so… I’m excited I’m actually attending. What time does the party start?” My mate answered, “Twenty minutes. We popped in early since the girls were here already.” I told him, “I’ll be there.”
I kept dancing for a little bit to work off my nervous energy. My mom’s parents would definitely be there since… they lived there. Plus, I was FINALLY going to an ally party.
I heard rustling and frowned because someone was running away in a hurry. Did I make someone uncomfortable by dancing here? I grabbed my phone and cringed. I said out loud, “Oh crap on a cracker.” I was late and I needed to shower. I always did this when I got caught up in dancing. I was surprised Xander didn’t link me asking where I was yet.
I took a step towards the house and swayed. Xander’s annoyance and anticipation flooded me. Was there a fight? My stomach felt tight, like I might throw up. I linked Freya, “Are we sick?” Freya answered, “No, just let me take over, Mel.” I gasped, “We are shifting?! NOW?!” Freya said, “Yes, just let yourself feel what you feel.”
I cringed because I was going to shift alone… again. God this was going to hurt. Freya answered, “It won’t hurt. Just trust me.” I linked Xander, “I need you.” He didn’t answer. I tried my parents, “Please get to me. I can’t do this alone again.” It felt like it didn’t reach them. I linked my brothers, “Please come to me.” Nothing. Why weren’t my links going through?
I shoved everything else out of my mind as the feeling spread, I remembered this feeling. The warmth all over my body before the pain. I linked Dalton, Dakota, and Alpha Peter, “Please don’t make me do this alone again. Please… I can’t do this alone.” I knew they didn’t get my link. How did I know that? I wasn’t sure, but I knew I was right.
Freya told me, “None of them got it. They would’ve come if they did and you know that.” It felt like I blinked, and I was on all fours. Did I black out? I hit my phone with my nose. My eyes widened. I linked, “Freya... we shifted in less than five minutes... and it didn’t hurt?”
Freya told me, “It was never supposed to hurt for us. If not for those Witches, Warlocks, covens and THAT EVIL DARK WITCH we would’ve been fine.” Wow. She hated Valdoma as much as I did. I told my wolf, “That doesn’t make sense. Shiftingfor the first time takes hours and…” I trailed off that thought because I looked at my paws. They were white.
I giggled, “Are we brown and white? How pretty!” Freya cautiously replied, “Not exactly. Go look at our reflection in the water.” I trotted happily over to the water’s edge to gaze at my wolf for the first time. I saw my reflection and promptly balked.
I backed up yelling at my wolf, “WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!” Freya sighed, “You know what’s happening. Sadly, we really don’t have time for a freak out.” I ran back to the water and spun around.
I shouted, “HOW ARE WE PURE WHITE?! NO WOLF IS PURE WHITE EXCEPT THE LEGEND OF THE WHITE WOLF. WHAT IS HAPPENING?!” Freya answered, “I’ve told you we are special. I’ve been waiting for the perfect human half for a long time. We are the white wolf. The one from the legend. Legends get things wrong of course, but we are the white wolf.”
I sat down… or she did? I think it was me though in wolf form. I whispered, “Oh my god. So, all those times... in my mind... That was you?!” Freya confirmed, “Yes, it was me. I’d love to give you more time to sort your feelings, but you remember that vision? That dream we keep having is part of our powers and it’s happening right now.”
I gasped, “Powers? We get visions?” That was right. In the legend the white wolf did have powers. I looked at the bottom of my feet and the tattoos were there. Freya explained, “Mate has them too. His are black and white. Our mating bond will be stronger than any wolf, but it has to be. We really need to get going.”
I replied, “Oh I’m sorry… it’s not every day you find out you’re something out of a LEGEND! Wait… my vision? That’s what it was... the dream? Mom! Oh gosh! Someone is going to try to kill mom! RUN, FREYA!”
My wolf took off. I passed several pack members in a flash. I could hear them asking, “Did you see that? No way, but yes.” Yeah well, they could get in line. I spotted KJ, Chason, and Fowler running with a group of Warriors headed for Blue Moon.
Fowler’s wolf had a duffle bag in his mouth. I could smell that it was Laxenread. I sped up beside Fowler and snatched the duffle bag from him. I could get there faster than he could. His wolf faltered and fell over which made me wince. I hadn’t meant to startle him like that. I took off.
I heard Fowler shift back and yell, “DID ANYONE JUST SEE THAT? DID I JUST SEE WHAT I THINK I JUST SAW? WAS THAT A WHITE WOLF? THE GODDAMN FUCKING WHITE WOLF IS REAL? AM I HALLUCINATING?!”
Chason must have shifted back because he answered, “If you hallucinated then so did I. The legendary white wolf is joining us in a fight.” Fowler snorted, “Not if we don’t run faster! KJ is going to make it because he handled that so smoothly. Teach us your ways, old timer.” KJ snorted in reply.
