Ezra?! Robert’s father was Ezra?! Oden said, “I believe so.” EJ gasped, “You have GOT to be fucking kidding me.” Drake whispered, “She knew. Ladybug knew all along this was about me.” I winced while Tristan growled. Mom said, “I’m positive Melanie didn’t want you to blame yourself, Drake. She knew you would if you knew.”
Drake growled, “Ezra did this because I killed his half-brother! Of course this is about me. If I wasn’t a young hot head with a loud mouth, Ezra wouldn’t have known who killed Alpha Ducant.” My dad reasoned, “You defended your sister and you had every right to do so. There is nothing wrong with what you did.”
Drake looked pained when he replied, “Except they made my little girl pay for my sins.” Sam took his hands, “It’s not a sin to defend your family. You promised me that you would always defend us and our pups. Allison is included. All you did that day was everything you’ve every promised.”
We all collapsed into a silence as my mate kept talking. Dylan sighed, “This is just depressing. I don’t like it. In other news MelAshley is OFFICIALLY the paralyzer. She paralyzed an Alpha, one we KNOW can fight really well.”
“Don’t you just bet she did that for all of you people? She could’ve killed no longer an Alpha Ezra over there. Now, we can watch Moody Mini Alpha Prick over there do horrible things to him. He could even do a whole father/son torture combination with Ezra and Robert.”
“How adorable. It’s sort of family bonding for them. Is it bonding on the other side when you are being tortured? Maybe not but I’m going to say it is. Because it’s the closest they will get to any kind of bonding now that we have them both. I say we because I also want to KICK HIM! THE NERVE AND GAUL OF THESE PEOPLE!” Dylan could do more than kick them for all I cared.
EJ asked, “Umm did we know that Melanie already has someone to take over Ezra’s pack? Does she know everyone?” Elise snorted, “She certainly appears to.” Dylan howled over Melanie’s speech, “NOT A LAMB! That’s right! We are Wolves people! MelAshley gives excellent speeches. I must know if she prepares or does it just come to her. Either way, I love it.”
Melanie’s Demon friend shimmered in with an Alpha blooded male. EJ snorted, “That is unquestionably Alpha Ezra’s son.” My brother was right, the man clearly was Ezra’s son. The son seemed stronger though. His hands and arms had silver burns on them. Elise gasped when he said his name.
EJ asked, “Babe?” Elise explained, “I just know that name.” My mom bit her lip. I raised an eyebrow clarifying, “You and mom both know his name?” My mom nodded, “We have confidences to keep just like you two do. We keep our fucking word. Though I suspect you’ll know how we know shortly.”
Paige and Julian’s mate shimmered back in, and I nodded to Julian. I popped to Alpha Tao, and it worked. I grabbed Melanie and inhaled her delicious strawberry scent. My mate was covered in blood, but most of it was not hers. It was the only reason my men weren’t in more trouble than they already were.
Gage linked, “I’ll put fifty dollars on that Demon shimmering to get whoever Tao’s mate is.” I said, “My mate just told me he is doing that, so you win.” Phil huffed, “It was my idea first!” Gage teased, “Hey, you snooze on linking everyone then you miss out.” I rolled at my eyes at them.
Phil linked, “Fine. I’ll say his mate is obviously in our pack. She or he will be one of the ones placed with us after being rescued by Red One.” I agreed, “It would be a pretty genius move for Melanie to send her to our pack to keep her safe while he trained to take over.”
Gage snorted, “So, it’s definitely what happened. The easiest way to form an alliance with any pack is to protect the Luna, current or future.” Phil agreed, “It does cement a friendship faster than anything else. Mates are everything to us.” I replied, “I know that, but there are clearly groups of people who do not.”
Alpha Tao gave an impressive speech. I looked over at my mom who nodded back so I knew she’d been making sure he was speaking the truth. Tristan looked ill when he mentioned the Ducant Alpha. Dakota gripped Tristan’s arm while Peter was doing the same with Drake. Jason was holding onto his mom with Addison was right beside him.
My mom snapped Addison back into her wedding dress. Addison turned with tears in her eyes and mouthed, “Thank you.” Mom smiled at her. Paige actually fanned her face, and Dalton wiped her tears away. Oden said, “Shera said it means the world to her and her human to have the dress back on.” Which would make Addison’s wolf Shera.
Most of the people here pledged allegiance to Tao. A few didn’t, but he dealt with him easily. Dylan hmphed, “It’s not fair. Alpha secret son is probably already a thigh killer. He got to train with MelAshley.”
Dylan turned to his own son along with my cousin, “Jayden and Finn, we MUST set up a training session with MelAshley STAT! We must be first, that’s all I’m saying.” I rolled my eyes knowing Black Mountain would be first.
EJ voiced my thoughts, “I’m pretty sure our pack have dibs on first.” Dylan smirked saying, “I already called it.” EJ snorted, “She’s my brother’s mate, so I win.” Dylan sighed, “I swear you live to take away my fun. I know you're a mini Alpha Prick, but if you aren’t the spitting image of that father of yours. It’s like I hear him in your words.”
Dylan grumbled, “He’s even got eighteen of you running around, it’s just wrong. So many mini Saint God Alpha Prick’s in training. I must say, I am worried he hasn’t elevated in status in all these years. Don’t you just know a doozy is coming? It’s like I feel it in the air, an elevation is coming.” I ignored him and continued to inhale Melanie’s scent deeply.
I linked the Warriors, “We are going to have ourselves a hell of a CHAT later. Understood?” They all looked nervous but nodded. Phil linked me, “They followed the orders of their Luna.” I snarled, “I want the full picture from their own mouths. Then they might run laps for hours if I don’t like said picture.” Phil raised an eyebrow, but I met his gaze with a firm stare.
Part of me didn’t like my words because it wasn’t fair. My Fairy side could shove it. This was my mate. Oden offered, “Our mate.” I internally rolled my eyes at him retorting, “I know that because you are a part of me.” Oden chuckled, “Just making sure we are on the same page.”
My mate’s Demon friend shimmered back in with Talia, and my jaw literally dropped. I linked Phil and Gage, “Talia is fromEzra’s pack?! And she’s Tao’s mate?” Phil replied, “That is very clearly the story that is unfolding in front of our eyes.”
EJ linked me, “Son of a bitch. No wonder Talia took to training so well. She’s a freaking Luna!” He wasn’t wrong. Talia was a great fighter. I linked Phil and Gage, “This is why no matter how many times I urged Talia to try out for a Warrior position, she didn’t.”
Gae offered, “It’s also why she wouldn’t take you up on your offer to challenge for the Female Lead Warrior. Talia is a Luna who was laying low and biding her time to go back to Tao. It makes a lot of sense now.” Yeah, it really did.
I linked EJ, “I’m questioning some of our other placements in our pack who are resistant to positions we offer them that are more noticeable.” EJ replied, “Same. Toby is compiling a list while I have my own mental list running.” There were quite a few.
Phil told me, “Gage and I are on the list you probably want and I know Toby is as well. Melanie would be the best one to talk to them about it though.” My mate was their Luna so that was fine. I was utterly confused when Talia’s family rushed forward.
I linked my wolf, “They aren’t Omega’s. They were here fighting with the pack.” Oden said, “Yes, that does seem weird. What objection could Ezra have to her? I would never care who our pups mate was as long as they were treated well. I know there are bad Alpha’s who want a certain rank, but Talia is a Warrior.”
Max linked me, “Talia’s family didn’t fight us. They shifted back and surrendered.” Interesting. I linked Phil, “I should’ve guessed the answer to my question. Of course, Ezra didn’t like Talia for his son. He is a moron. Then again, maybe he didn’t know about her talents as a fighter.”
Phil said, “But Ezra wouldn’t have liked her strength because she would’ve stood up to him.” True. It was clear Ezra wastesting Tao when he got rid of Talia. I was impressed that Tao was able to control himself when he did know personally that Talia would be safe though. He clearly trusted Melanie implicitly. Which I found interesting.
I linked my dad, “What Alpha do you know that would be that calm over the word of a girl younger than them? I know she’s a Beta blood, but I’m not getting the impression if they met at after sixteen these packs knew that. Friend or not, unless one of my family members swore to my mate’s safety I’d fight for her myself.”
