Hastein directed me, “Melanie, where is my mate?” I nodded, “Right, I’m getting there. Just one more quick thing… she’s got this note… she’ll probably explain… but it involved her meeting you. Someone locked away K’s memories of her family. She knows everything else…but they are a blur to her. I found out some things for her… not much honestly it was a pittance…really.”
Hastein laughed, “Melanie.” Freya said, “He really does want to know where his mate is.” I hummed, “But anyway… I just thought you should know that… since K will start to remember everything once she meets you. I think the spell was cast by someone who cares about her. So, K knows uhhh… people who do… no I can’t say that…” Saying Sparms might give her Supernatrual side away.
Hastein said, “It’s fine. I don’t care about the memories. Just tell me where she is.” I answered, “Well, I mean… if you think about it, you know she’s near the mountain because you are…so… she’s at the top waiting for you. I told her about you and…” Hastein portaled away.
I sighed, “You’re welcome. I guess he wanted me to get to the point… that’s fair… and hard for me to do. I was trying to hit the high points of what he needed to know… my projections say he is quite patient… but he was not impatient just.” Freya reasoned, “It’s about his mate, so that changes the projections of his actions.” True. That should always be a factor in my projections.
I walked over to Gabe who was now joined by Xander and EJ. Gabe asked, “Why couldn't we hear you guys talking? Is that a white wolf thing?” I answered, “Uhh no… it’s an I have a Witch friend thing. Anyway…. Hastein is fine. So, leave him alone with the emotions you feel from him. Pass that along, would you? Please and thank you.”
Gabe snorted, “Holy shit. You actually figured it out and sent him exactly where I think you did, didn’t you?” I reasoned, “I couldn’t possibly know where you think I sent him… I’m not a mind reader. It’s highly likely I pointed him in the direction of someone he wants to meet. Which you knew.”
EJ asked, “What the hell is going on?” Gabe snorted, “You must not have made it hard for my brother, Melanie.” EJ asked, “Why?” Gabe explained, “Because H already found her based on what I feel.” I mean on top of the mountain is quite specific and easy to find someone on.
EJ looked between us all as Bjourn came out and joined us. Gabe greeted, “Hi, dad. We are supposed to leave Hastein alone per Melanie’s orders.” Well… I didn’t say to the tell the King of the Hackura like that. Freya chuckled. EJ laughed, “My mom will back that one up. She’s the bride.”
Bjourn replied in an amused tone, “I wasn’t going to find him. I was going to ask if we knew how he found his mate, but I see I have my answer.” He said while looking directly at me. I began to pick at my skirt.
I mean… he could’ve realized he was drawn to the mountain for a reason… that was a thing… or an option… Hastein couldn’t smell her down here….Ok, so that option was low on the probability scale… but still possible. It didn’t have to be me.
EJ asked, “So, this is about the woman Melanie fought with then. Right?” I said, “Oh look at that… Xander and I should get back… yup it’s getting back to the party time… where everyone wants to talk to us. Except people who aren’t here… which is totally fine.”
EJ asked, “Who isn’t here?” I snorted, “Don’t ask a Beta until tomorrow because Elise will be… umm… mad… so… anyway. Xander, what are your thoughts on us talking to people together? Because you’re so far away from me…all the time tonight.”
Xander laughed, “I agree. I definitely need to be closer because obviously I need to keep you right by my side. If I don’t, you run off and have secret meetings.” I rolled my eyes as he popped us away right onto the dance floor.
Xander teased, “I think I know how to keep you inside. Dancing.” I mean…I only left to talk tohiscousin. Tiffany and Adeline joined us with other friends. Caine came over with Judy. Caine winked, “You look beautiful. I always knew your Xander would be smart and marry you.” Caine put his hand out to Xander, and they shook hands.
Rena skipped up with Dax. They looked so good together. Rena hugged me saying, “You look amazing, and your dance skills are still top tier.” Dax laughed, “Mel’s always dancing.” Dax told me, “You look beautiful and I’m so happy for you.”
I replied, “I’m happy for you too.” Rena said, “We did a quiet ceremony but I’m planning a big party. I want you guys to come.” Dax laughed, “It’s in a year apparently.” I replied, “I knew that’s how Rena wanted her mating ceremony. Renabelieves receptions are cursed so she found a loophole to have one.” Rena tapped her own nose twice and clicked her tongue.
We stayed on the dance floor all night. Other than the break we took to cut the cake. Xander only let me go to dance with his dad. I told Eric, “Haley did a great job with everything. It looks exactly how I imagined it.” Eric laughed, “My Angel does everything well. I’d like to have a chat with you.”
I asked, “Aren’t we doing that now?” Freya said, “Practically every wolf here has talked to me.” I replied, “I’m in the same boat. Every human is talking to me.” Freya chuckled, “That is true but it’s to be expected at our mating ceremony.”
Eric told me, “I meant later. My Angel would be upset if we discussed such things now.” I nodded, “Sure… I can look at your calendar… and put something on there.” Eric smiled, “I’ll have Caleb look at yours to avoid him have a mild panic attack.”
I shrugged, “Ok. Is Caleb doing that because Jim is on vacation with Miley? Well and Nick is on… umm… doing stuff.” Secret stuff. Eric chuckled, “Yes, he is.” Xander’s brothers all danced with me next. Aiden grabbed a dance before Xander could grab me back.
Aiden teased, “Be faster nephew.” Then winked at Xander who laughed. Aiden said to me, “So, I find I have many things to discuss with you. I could tell you had a thought yesterday about my uncle and his actions.”
I said, “Umm… I mean… Yeah… I do.” Aiden somewhat pleaded, “Enlighten me. Why would he do it?” I answered, “Money. He was on the run. That’s the easiest option he had available. They were probably tracking him by his magic… so that was out… and they’d have frozen his accounts.”
“I’m betting he was a popular donor in any state he went to. He was tall, Fairies are good looking, and he was a lawyer… I mean… I don’t know that… he might not be. So, I was asking. Yes… asking. Lochtan was a lawyer, right?”
Aiden’s jaw ticked when he answered, “Yes, he was.” I nodded, “So… for people looking for sperm donors… he’s a pretty good candidate. I’d check all the possible alias’s you know of his. I could try to find some too, but I think you’re looking for a rather large group of… cousins of yours.”
Aiden snorted, “So it would seem. Thank you, Melanie.” I nodded, “Sure… but there is another part of it. There’s an actual part of a Supernatural’s brains that wants to have children. Fairies are theorized to be one of the groups with a strong drive to have children to share all the love they have to give. I mean the last part is my theory… that the community at large is not open to… but I’m right so.”
Aiden laughed, “People don’t see us as loving.” I replied, “Which is… dumb… but apparently you can’t tell people that.” Aiden bent over and slapped his knee. He gathered himself to say, “I’d very much like to see any studies, or research you have done into the Fae.”
I gasped, “Really? Because… it’s a lot… like a lot. I’ve read all your papers… .and killed a few people who downloaded them… they were bad though… so… I didn’t take your good audience away. Did you know that your highest viewership on your papers is actually the Hackura?”
Aiden’s jaw dropped and he blinked several times. I hummed, “Analytics are fascinating… you should check yours out. It might surprise you who is always… and I do mean ALWAYS, reading your papers. There’s a group in the human realm that does… most are here… but the Hackura still have over seventy-five percent of your audience.”
Aiden chuckled, “Well, thank you for this highly enlightening conversation.” I added, “Also… I’d hire a partial Fairy too look at your analytics. Marketing speaks to partial Fairies… numbers can get boring to them… but you could find one of… ten with the aptitude.”
Aiden asked, “Do you know these people?” I squeaked, “Whhhhattt? Me? No….that would be weird… for me to know…since I’ve never met them.” Tristan danced by us with Everly. My brother commented, “Ladybug, you’re a terrible liar just tell him who to hire.”
