Emma was justifiably excited about the talent Melanie had practically gift wrapped for them. They’d gained a lot of unexpected talent from this meeting. Emmett had a lot of questions, but I was certain my mate had probably hacked into his computer. That would be my guess and judging by the look on his face, it was his guess too.
Melanie basically skirted his question about how she knew things. Fowler linked me, “The Muffin Luna is scary but super awesome. I’m glad she’s on our team.” So was I. KJ linked, “God, it’s sad any of us bought the other girl over the real Melanie. Compulsions or not. The real Melanie is quite literally exactly as advertised.” Fuck compulsions and peanut butter cookies. It was my new motto.
EJ said out loud we needed to have her hack into our companies. My mate’s reaction was completely and utterly adorable. I didn’t need her to tell me she’d already done it because her reaction did. Oden linked, “I’d tell you more, but Freya is just cackling over her human’s inability to lie.” That was fair.
The women came back into the room to present, but I couldn’t take my eyes off my gorgeous, ridiculously brilliant mate. I linked Micah, “So, are you looking into those IP addresses we previously thought came from our competitor’s companies?”
Micah answered, “I texted dad and he’s taking a harder look. I’ve talked to him about some of the code Melanie uses. Mosthackers have a type of signature. Melanie and I developed a code together, but I didn’t learn what hers is. My dad is trying. He said if she didn’t physically break into the company to send the email it’s a good false front. He’s still digging though.” I nodded.
The women’s presentation was clearly better than the men’s. All of them looked gob smacked realizing what they’d missed out on by excluding them. Emmett immediately offered them jobs. If he hadn’t, we’d have recruited them for something.
Once they left, EJ asked about the companies she’d hacked into. It was no longer a question of whether she did or not in anyone’s mind. Melanie was rambling about the definitions of hacking. I couldn't resist her any longer, so I kissed my mate then clarified my brother's question.
Oden said, “I want to know how many companies mate got into.” I did too. Melanie rambled about the many businesses we have. Gage linked, “TWENTY?! She got into twenty? Our Luna is superior to all the others. Literally all of them.” I agreed but I was biased and so was he.
Phil linked, “While that wasn’t a lot given how many businesses we owned as a pack, I’m not happy about that number. Also, you let go too fast. You have alotof family members. Melanie is evading the fact that she clearly did it for the Cambridges and Holloran’s too. I bet good money on it.” Interesting theory.
Melanie quickly wrote down which twenty businesses, and added she’d put her own protection on them. Micah linked me, “EJ linked me the list. Elise’s business are just insane. Damn. It’s like Fort Knox.” I bit back a laugh.
Two of them were businesses I owned. Then there was just a running list of family members. Micah pointed out a few of the competitors of these businesses had gone under. Even ones that weren’t on this list. Melanie shrugged it off as no big deal.
My mate had even gone so far as to hack cameras on their computers and send their picture to the authorities. Which ones? They had to be contacts my had within the force or an agency because as the business owners we should’ve been informed we were hacked.
Did Melanie have her own secret police force too? Jason was excited my mate had protected him as well. Micah then brought up my Instagram commenters and my Guard faded in. Gage linked me cackling. Phil said, “Uh oh. I’ll just be getting a list of your top commenters since they are not her.” That would probably be good.
EJ linked, “Melanie is the one who killed those stalkers?!” I said, “I mean, it does sound like that yes.” Oden purred, “Mate is so protective and adorable.” She was. We were right, it was her. Drake was crying he was laughing so hard, while Dylan practically tap danced with joy over my mate’s responses.
KJ linked, “This is too good. My life was so boring guarding the fake her and the real Melanie has made up for in such a short amount of time.” Egres linked, “We were going to kill them, but they just died. One is missing because their body never showed up. I don’t think your mate killed that one nicely at all.” Probably not.
Dad linked me, “Your mate actually just said it’s the stalkers fault they didn’t know you had a mate who could stalk them stalking you and didn’t turn their lives around. Oh my god. That’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever heard. I need her to do that to the women in my life I don’t realize flirt with me. It will be very helpful.” I could easily get my mate to do that if she wasn’t already, but I’d lay odds people around my dad that were bad and flirted with him, died too.
I linked EJ, “I’m at the end of my limit. Melanie’s too damn cute. She was fucking hot earlier and now...” I trailed off then corrected myself, “Nope it’s all hot.” EJ agreed, “Go ahead.Micah can tell us more, I’m sure. I’ll learn about more obscure laws your mate used to imprison people for commenting on your social media platforms.”
I popped my mate to our room and teased her when she said gift cards were welcome. Oden purred, “Mate is too cute.” I kissed her. After a second, she seemed to realize when I pushed her down what I intended to thank her with.
Melanie wrapped her arms around me, and I snapped us both naked. I kissed and licked my mate’s marking spot. I trailed my fingertips down her body and found the heat between her legs. Melanie gasped and pulled me closer.
I circled her entrance with my finger before slowly sliding it inside my mate, enjoying as her fingernails dug into my back as I continued to lick and nip her marking spot. I linked her, “My naughty little hacker.” I slowly began to move my finger inside her.
Melanie replied, “I prefer to think of it as protective little hacker… if you’re being technical… oh ... Jesus... Christ… that feels so good.” I laughed as her tone got increasingly breathier with that string of thoughts. I made her come twice before pulling my fingers out.
I put them into my own mouth. I moaned, “Damn, you taste so good.” I flipped my mate onto all fours and spanked her as I slid inside her. Melanie gripped the sheets as I leaned down and kissed the words on her back then slowly slid in and out of her.
Once I found my stride, we couldn't get enough of each other. We’d just fallen apart when someone knocked on the door. Paige started yelling from the other side, “Melanie Jane McAlister, you explain this text right now!”
Melanie winced admitting, “I knew she’d be mad.” I tilted my head asking, “About?” Paige began knocking again. Melanie grabbed my hoodie and ran to the door. I grabbed a pair ofsweats and a t-shirt. I snapped them on as Paige pushed into the room.
Melanie’s witch friend demanded to know, “What the HELL does this mean? There’s magic to the words on your back. What magic?” I quickly wrote down what I’d heard chanted in the Ribbon. I handed my mate’s friend the paper.
Paige sighed, “Well, I can remove that right now.” She pushed Melanie’s arm then asked, “Why didn’t you tell me before?” Melanie shrugged, “You were already mad about it… you removing the spell couldn't do anything... until now.” Paige’s eyes filled with tears as she turned towards me.
Paige asked, “You can you heal her back?” I nodded, “Yes, my mom and I can. Is that what you want, Lovebug?” Melanie answered, “I really do. I tried to use… stuff… umm… to fix it but it didn’t work.” What stuff? She’d mentioned her concealers before. Was there something else?
I kissed her forehead, “Let me know when you’re ready, and I’ll bring my mom up.” I left them alone to give them some privacy. I walked out of the room and saw Jason standing there. I asked, “Jase?” My friend explained, “I just want to talk to Mel.” I nodded and headed back downstairs.
EJ was waiting in the living room with Dalton. Dalton declared, “I was given no choice in the matter of coming here. Paige read her texts and said we were popping here because she had questions. When my mate has questions, she demands answers. It’s very Beta wolf of her.”
I laughed, “I might not have understood that before, but now I get it.” EJ muttered, “Yeah now he gets it. By the way, the consensus is everyone is glad Melanie is on our side. She could’ve made our lives hell.”
