Freya said, “You tried to lie and asked a question. You’re adorable and I love you.” I didn’t answer them though. The truth was I’d checked the security of everything Black Mountain owned and Jason… even Alpha Peter… and Dalton… ok Dakota… even Cooper… and Dane… ok all the Kyle’s… which clearly meant I had to do all the McAlister’s too.
So, I clearly needed to go through and do Tristan, mom, and dad’s stuff. So, add that to my list of things to do. I’d cracked into a few of their companies and added my own personal layer of protection to those. Most were fine. There were just a handful that I’d needed to use my own code on.
Micah linked, “You made their companies Fort Knox, didn’t you?” I asked, “So… why do we need to talk about it… if it’s obvious?” Micah winked at me but didn’t answer. I felt like I had a solid question. Tristan linked, “Did you just up the security at my companies?” I asked, “Huh? What? Me? I’m listening to a presentation. That’s…what we all doing…some of us are great multitaskers…so…yeah.” My oldest brother smirked at me.
Essie and Kelsey knocked their presentation out of the park. Despite my initial dislike for them… I found myself being quite proud of them. Alpha Emmett announced, “We’ll hire you both. I think you’ll both do well in sales if that’s what you want to do. We have several projects coming up.” I coughed, “Dozens.” Everyone except my home pack laughed.
I linked Tristan, “Do they think I’m joking? I’m not… I’m serious… I’m going to ruin that other company for being sexist, bigoted jerks.” My big brother replied, “I know that, and I applaud you for it.” More pride… gosh… was Jason proud too? Tristan answered, “Yes, he is.” UGH! I did not mean to link that. I had made such great strides on inside thoughts during this meeting…and other people’s pride for me was setting me back.
Alpha Emmett laughed, “I’ll go with the adorable hacking scary future Luna who apparently makes delicious muffins. You’ll both be team leaders. I’ve sent a car to bring you two to our territory to talk terms.”
“You are more than welcome to relocate to our pack, or as Black Mountain has stated to theirs. That’s your choice. Emma will offer her territory in Blue Moon as well. We have Fairies who help us get around.” Both women came over and hugged me again.
Once they left, EJ asked me, “How many companies of ours have you hacked?” I winced, “I mean that depends on your definition… there are a few you could mean... I didn’t hurt anything... or take anything... if that’s what you mean then none. If you…”
Xander spun my chair around and kissed me. When my mate pulled back he asked, “How many did you get into? I’m guessing you tried to hack all of them.” I sighed, “I have tried them all… you guys own a lot of things... like a LOT… with all you and your parents having business and your siblings just keep opening them… plus your mates… it’s a lot of freaking businesses.”
Xander’s lips twitched, “And you got into how many?” I sighed, “Twenty. The rest I couldn’t, and I went at them pretty hard. I put an extra layer of coding on those other ones though… so no one will get in.” EJ questioned, “Which twenty?”
I grabbed a notepad and wrote down the company names. My future brother in law frowned as he studied the list. I told him, “They are fine now.” Micah asked, “Has anyone tried to hack their businesses since then? You’d have put a trace on all of them to see if anyone tried.”
I blushed whispering, “Maybe… I… umm… did that… or not….that’s also a choice….someone could make…that one might call a mistake…but it’s an option.” Dad chuckled, “Melanie Jane, you can’t lie, and you never could.”
Ok… well… I am working on it. Dad teased, “It’s going poorly but I love that.” Why could I never have inside my head thoughts?! I thought I was making progress and now I was quite literally back to square one. Freya laughed, “It’s adorable.” It was annoying… is what it was.
Micah laughed, “So these last few years a few competitors of businesses around here that suddenly went out of business were because of you.” I looked at the table muttering, “I mean shady people deserve bad things to happen to them… that’s a thing… we all believe. Plus, it felt like I was helping, and I wanted to help... and…”
Jason interrupted, “But a few of my competitors went out of business too.” I snorted, “And? You’re my brother. I added a ridiculous amount of protection to your businesses. Anyone who tried to hack you took on a massive virus, and their picture was sent to the authorities. Along with any business Elise and Xander own… and ok, Everly too…. Maybe a handful of other people.” Jason smiled.
Micah asked, “And the Instagram commenters?” I heard my own voice crack into another octave but was unable to stop it,“Uhh what? That seems like a topic change… so we could go back to hacking… and that type of thing.”
Dalton commented, “This will be good.” I did not agree. Micah clarified, “Some people went to jail for strange things most people don’t know are laws. Then it was discovered they were stalking Alexander, but you had to have already known that.”
I answered, “Maybe… if people don’t want helping breaking obscure entertaining laws the average person doesn’t know about… they shouldn’t be bad people… who are stalking my mate… that seems like an option people had….and didn’t take.”
EJ snorted, “Some of those people died.” I replied, “And maybe some were given a chance… via a donkey in their bathtub… to turn their life around… and they got out and were making plans to come here and kidnap my Xander…which upset me…on a very deep level.”
I added, “When you think about it… I helped her… because the Hackura would’ve killed her in a much meaner way. Xander’s Guard would’ve been SO insulted by that human thinking she could’ve taken them on.”
“That’s actually insane when you think about it. So, I put a donkey in her bathtub… and then she went to jail… for stalking… because they discovered her creepy shrines… and schedule tracking…she’s the one who didn’t turn her life around. That’s obviously her fault…I was being nice…with the whole not just killing her and being done with it. Which I had many plans of how to do…I just sent her jail instead….then killed her later because she was still awful.”
Haley said, “I agree, it is the crazy stalkers fault.” Alpha Emmett asked, “I’m sorry, you can’t put a donkey in a bathtub?” I answered, “Not in a specific state, no… so… people shouldn’t upset someone who likes knowing those laws no one knows… that feels like a thing… I left most… thirsty commenters alone…even though… I dislike them.” Cheyenne. It was her that I hated. UGH! Cheyenne. I could rant about her for a long time. Freya growled in my head.
Xander chuckled, grabbed my hand, and popped us to our room. My mate smiled saying, “That was easily the most interesting business meeting I’ve ever been in. What should I do with you, my adorable little hacker?”
I blushed, “Umm…. gift cards are accepted?” Xander howled with laughter and kissed me lightly before whispering against my lips, “I think I can do better than a gift card.” I replied, “I mean gift cards are great and….” he kissed me and pushed me back towards the bed. It hit me what my meant….and he was right. Itisbetter than a gift card.
Proposal Plans
Alexander waited to see who Melanie was going to call before their talk about their mating ceremony. I had a pretty good idea, so I wasn’t surprised when it ended up being Paige. I was also not surprised about Dalton’s reaction to Paige possibly being in danger.
Paige was teasing him subtly, but he wasn’t picking up on it. My eyes narrowed. These women were on a whole other level. Oden boasted, “Mate is the best.” I linked EJ, “We are unprepared for Melanie and her friends.” EJ retorted, “Gee, if only someone had been saying that this entire time. Oh wait, it was me. I have said that repeatedly.” My big brother was right.
Melanie and I teased each other once she hung up the phone. I was very serious when I pointed out that she and her friends run to danger. My mate, of course, did not agree. This was going to get complicated fast. They knew they were good at what they did.
At least they weren’t talking out of their asses and just thinking they were good. They were actually good at what they did. Oden grumbled, “It still makes me anxious.” I told my wolf, “I agree.” Oden warned, “When we have an actual conversation about the Resistance I can say so.”
EJ linked, “Mom has the Warlock’s and she’s well mad. That’s the word we will go with. She sent her tornado at them because and I quote ‘there will be no more unfuckinginvited Warlock’s or Witch’s welcome in this goddamn territory without mother fucking consequences ever again. There are fucking Fairies that live here, and I’ll make sure all of them are going to put you all in ditches.’ Which she then proceeded to create, and then had her tornado drop them in it before she popped to Lucas’ territory.”
