“I still saw him as a big brother from the second we met. That you felt anything for your mate’s sister… LET ALONE HER TWIN SISTER…. is messed up and wrong. So, SO wrong! Like I don’t think I can appropriately express how wrong. I’m with Kingsley… you guys suck.” And they were going to die …eventually….when I got some spare time.
Kingsley said, “This is up to you Dirsha.” Dirsha carefully replied, “I want to think about everything and process it. I need to collect my thoughts because so much has happened so fast.” Rolfin argued, “I can’t leave without you.” This man could not actually be serious.
I snorted, “I’ll make you leave without her. Seriously… the amount of people I could call… not that I need to….but it’s a long list. Kingsley and I could make you leave by ourselves… but my god… I wish I’d brought my mother in law. She might have to pay you a visit for me.”
It was on my list for his demise, which was happening. Freya agreed, “It needs to happen.” It was going to, but I wanted him looking over his shoulder first. Also, I wanted Dirsha to make her choice. I wouldn’t move until that happened.
Dirsha explained unnecessarily, “I will not reject you right now, Rolfin. I want to think, and I want you to prove to me you have changed.” Change was hard to do when people wanted to. This man did not. Freya laughed, “Most people don’t know that.” I was not one of those people.
Dirsha somewhat whispered, “I want you to prove that you want me and no one else. If I so much as feel a slight pain ofbetrayal, that’s it. We will be done, and you will never see me again. I don’t care if my family disowns me.”
The man Kingsley called her brother stepped forward. Her brother said, “Dirsha, I didn’t know he cheated. I thought he flirted with some blonde thinking she was you. That was the story I got. I definitely didn't know he said he’d wished his mate was Nicha.” Dirsha shrugged.
Kingsley instructed, “Go wait in that room and lock the door, Dirsha. I’ll text you when it’s safe to come out.” Drisha left. Rolfin shouted like a petulant child, “You can’t keep her from me.” I laughed, “Oh… you have no idea how easily she could. Or me… it’s honestly pup’s play.”
Kingsley raised an eyebrow at me, but I simply smiled. Hastein would move mountains for Kingsley… since he wasn’t going to change his schedule and would probably stalk me now to get to her. My, my, my, how the tables have turned in that situation.
Freya chuckled, “I still feel the need to point out he never knew you were trying to help.” Well… I was….and he changed his schedule…now he’s be following me. That had such promise…but I planned to get them together as soon as possible…even thought he wasn’t a schedule follower.
The point remained that hiding a partial Demon was nothing to a Hackura, let alone the Crown Prince. Kingsley could do it on her own too. Or I’d help. Honestly, my friend had lots of options. No one made someone disappear better than a Hackura though. I was fully versed in the fact that their Crown Prince was the third best person at it, behind his own father and grandfather.
Kingsley commented to me, “You’re early.” I admitted, “I was getting out of an awkward conversation. Plus, I wanted to talk to you about… my Mating Ceremony. It’s tomorrow… and I’d like it if you could come… and meet someone… for reasons… that make sense… I swear.”
Kingsley smiled saying, “I’m planning on working in the states on that project you asked about, so I’ll have to be in the region. I will absolutely be at your Mating Ceremony though. I’d never miss it.” I laughed, “I’ll have to set up a feed in the chapel for A… I know she won’t come.” Getting Angelique around other Supernatural’s triggered her and she wouldn’t do it.
I did get her around humans though. I had her taking certification courses in different things online and in person. Hybrid styles really got to her, and she saw how she could easily be among humans. It was a small step to where I wanted Angelique’s life going, but it was a massive step to her.
Kingsley had really good eyesight, so I believed her when she said she’d be there, but in the distance. I said, “There’s a mountain you could watch from.” Kingsley winked saying, “How perfect and I knew that. You talked about the mountain. A lot.” True.
I tapped my thigh letting Kingsley know Xander would pop in. The Demons would know who he was instantly. Which meant they’d also know who his family was and they’d leave without a fight. Kingsley touched her pinky to her thumb. It was the ‘go ahead’ sign.
I told Freya, “See? She’ll fit in so well with the Hackura… she knows all their signs.” Freya replied, “Because you taught them to people.” I replied, “Special people… not everyone… so… there’s that… which means I’m still right.” Freya chuckled.
I linked Xander instructions because I wanted these people to be afraid. I heard the pop and relaxed, knowing he was here. Kingsley bit her lip at the look on the Demons’ faces. They took off running so fast I wasn’t even sure they had long enough to look at him.
Freya linked me, “Mate is so intimidating they didn’t shimmer away.” That was true and hilarious. I teased Kingsley. She was pleased to meet my mate and even had a gleam in her eye. I was surprised she told Xander her real name.
That just increased the odds of her being Hastein’s mate into a higher percentage. Kingsley felt comfortable with Xander. Freya linked, “She’s heard about him from you.” Yeah… because I’d tried to set them up to meet… so I didn’t want her blindsided.
Freya replied, “I meant you told her about mate.” I reasoned, “Ohh… Well, that’s true….I did do that…but Kingsley didn’t even tell Caine and Dax her real name… only Angelique knows out of the main group.”
“Well… maybe Paige… I feel like Paige knows… She knows things. So maybe she guessed… it’s questionable. The point is, Kingsley knows those people and even worked with them. She just told Xander her real name… because she feels safe around him.”
“Which is definitely… most likely… because she’s his cousin's mate. Kingsley will be a great Queen. Plus, I wanted them to meet because she could be herself in their realm. Hastein could make a gag order… or she could fly in a sanctuary. Flying in the open skies would mean the world to her.”
Freya said, “Kingsley and Kayda would make a great Queen. She stood up for that girl even though they aren’t friends. Going against a Demon Lord is a big deal.” It was but not so much for people like us. Kingsley had her Operation Saint Rita for abused mates.
Xander made me fall for him harder by offering to make my conversation with Kingsley private to even him. Freya linked, “Mate is perfect.” Yes, he was… he was definitely getting lucky after hearing Dirsha’s story. Gosh that was awful.
Kingsley teased once Xander sat down, “Your Xander is trying to figure out what I am.” I pointed out, “Everyone does that.” Kingsley smiled, “That they do. What did you want to talk about?” I smiled saying, “I’m like ninety-eight percent sure Iknow who your mate is… the percentage has gone up quickly. It was at like ninety-five percent not so long ago.”
She gaped then shouted, “WHAT?! HOW?!” I answered, “Little things… about how he and his brother are acting.” Kingsley asked, “Who is it?” I replied, “Hastein Cambridge… though he did say I could call him H when we met.”
Kingsley blinked several times. My friend eventually said, “You know I don’t remember my family, but I learned about the Hackura. You even had me learn Latin which makes me think you’ve had this thought for a while.”
“Considering their King has never had a non-Hackura mate, I’m not even sure why that thought, or idea would enter your head.” I shrugged, “Things change. You’d be a great Queen. Plus, it’s him or his brother. I’m pretty sure it’s him though. He’ll be at the mating ceremony.”
Kingsley frowned, “Well, I was going to be a pet in Missouri to get in with the Vampires. I’ll have to adapt my strategy.” I teased, “Kayda would never handle being a pet well.” Kingsley snickered, “That’s true.”
