I looked at Micah demanding, “Track that phone. Now.” I linked him, “And Melanie’s.” Micah nodded to me. Tenley’s shaky voice came through the line. She whispered, “I’m sorry, Cayden. I’m so sorry!” Cayden said, “It’s fine, little sister. We will get you home.”

The other girl said, “Corbin, I…” Corbin cut her off, “You’ll be fine, Blaise.” A man laughed, “I thought she would get your attention. Her own cousins discovered she had a secret phone and that she was a source for you. I thought we had a lock on all our Covens, but she’s been talking to you.” Corbin was now furious.

Wait, was I wrong? Was she simply a source? I linked Dalton, “Mute them.” He did. I asked, “Corbin, he’s wrong, isn’t he? She’s not just a source.” Corbin snorted, “Blaise is not a source at all.” Hastein gently said, “Corbin.”

Corbin shouted, “SHE’S MINE! IknewI shouldn’t have agreed to this. Blaise has been leaking information about their Coven to the good Covens. She’s been giving counter spells to new spells they come up with. She wanted to protect people. She was being careful.”

I asked, “She’s a Witch?” Corbin evaded, “A partial Witch.” Oh no. Micah snorted, “No way!” Corbin looked at him, “Yes, it’s her that I have you looking for information about on her dad.” Micah said, “I would’ve looked more urgently had you told me who she was.” Corbin frowned.

I questioned, “You don’t know who her dad is?” I was confused because I thought he was going to say she was a partial Fairy. Corbin locked his jaw, and Uncle Logan touched his back. Corbin told us, “She’s a partial Witch, partial Fairy. I have tried to get her to agree to meet you guys. She wanted to keep doing this though. She agreed to meet Aunt Haley next week.”

My mom offered, “I’ll help her find her family.” Corbin explained, “Her mom used a sperm donor for her and her siblings. It is the same one.” My mom groaned, “OH FUCKING HELL! How much Fairy blood does she have?”

Corbin answered, “As much as the Henderson children and you.” My mom grumbled, “Oh for god’s sake! A full blooded Fairy donated sperm in the human realm? FUCK!” The man on the call said, “I will soon have three people you want.” Dalton unmuted the phone.

Cayden asked, “What are you talking about?” Tenley whispered, “It’s Cassie. They texted her from my phone.” A pop sounded and Cassie was next to Cayden. Cayden asked, “Where’s your phone?” Cassie reached into her pocket then frowned.

My sister shrugged saying, “I thought it was in my pocket…” She trailed off when she saw the screen. Cassie’s eyes blazed and she shouted, “OH MY GOD IS THAT TENLEY?! YOU ASSHOLES GIVE HER BACK NOW!”

Ghiza spoke, “Coniugis Alexandri telephonum sustulit. Putavi esse pro ludo. (Alexander's mate lifted her phone. I thought it was for a prank).” Cassie’s jaw dropped. Corbin spoke, “Habeo nuntium qui eam reducet dicit. Sola homo cogitare possum de Blasio Melanie quod sciret (I have a message in a distorted voice saying they will bring her back. The only person I can think of that would know about Blaise is Melanie).”

Tristan muted the phone and asked, “Why are you talking about my sister in Latin?” Corbin answered, “Because I think she’s on her way to save Blaise and Tenley.” Tristan started calling Melanie. Micah said, “Both the sniper and Melanie’s phone are turned off. They were on, but now they aren’t.”

Dalton unmuted the phone putting his head in hands. My Beta and Gamma were already in that position. Cayden asked, “What is it that you want?” The man smiled saying, “You’ve stolen a fighter from us, she’s quite popular.”

Aaron, Cayden and Tenley’s dad, portaled in eyes blazing gold. The window behind the man who had spoken, exploded. I stiffened as a Resistance member flew into the room on a motorcycle. Oden snorted, “Seriously? You actually thought ‘a Resistance member’?! That’s mate and you know it.” I did.

EJ linked me, “They were going to ask for Melanie back.” I snarled, “I noticed.” Could the universe just give me a moment to adjust? The Supernatural Council want my mate, packs are coming to hunt my mate, and the Ring wants my mate back.

This was utter madness. I was worried Melanie went alone until another girl, not in a bulletproof vest, repelled into the room. I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and turned my head to see what it was. My cousin Gabe had taken a stepforward. That was a big reaction for him. All my cousins except Corbin and Hastein were looking at him questioningly.

I focused back on the fight. Dalton asked, “Is that other Resistance member a Fairy? Only King Aiden can melt people’s heads off.” I pointed out, “His hands are on fire when he does that. Her hands look completely normal. I don’t think she’s a Fairy, but maybe she’s a Demon. We’d have to ask Julian’s mate if Demons can do that. Or Maximus. He’s never mentioned it though.”

EJ snorted, “Julian will have to ask her. I doubt she’d tell us, but it’s a superfluous point. Maximus would’ve told us.” That was true. Valentina was in the Resistance though. So, she knew who this woman was. My brother’s mate would want to keep her identity secret, just like my mate would.

My mate and the other woman worked well together as a team. It clearly wasn’t their first time fighting together. I had no idea who this woman was other than none of the people we suspected to be in the Resistance.

I asked Gabe, “Do you know her, cousin?” Gabe simply said, “No.” Ok then. I sent him the emotion in the bond he was chatty. It was full of sarcasm and earned me a side eyed look from him. The other woman knew there was a fire before anyone else.

How did she know that? Minutes later the room was in flames. Melanie took Blaise and Tenley and told the other woman to get out. My mate’s partner nodded and took off. She was fast. Not as fast as a Hood member, but still faster than any Demon I knew.

Melanie gave Tenley some sort of medication. I asked Cayden, “What does Tenley feel like to you?” Cayden answered, “I feel nothing in our bond.” My mom said, “Tenley has a fucking bracelet on like I did as a child. Melanie likely hasn’t seen it yet. It looks like a bracelet a fucking child would own. It’s suppressing her connections.”

Aaron declared, “They will die for this.” Uncle Bjourn agreed, “Yes, they will. We will hunt them all down, Aaron.” Melanie got everyone onto her motorcycle and left the room seconds before the doorway was engulfed in flames. I was instantly checking my phone, staring at it like it was about to hatch.

A loud explosion drew my attention back to the screen and I hit my knees. The house had exploded. Where was my mate? My Uncle Bjourn picked me back onto my feet and led me out of the room. He nodded to my Uncle Logan, who had Corbin. Hastein had Cayden.

Once we were out of the room Uncle Bjourn opened a portal that he shoved me through. I turned about ready to let him have it when I saw Tenley standing there in front of me with Blaise. Tenley must have opened a portal.

I saw my Uncle Marcus and Grandpa Titus. I growled, “Where is she?” My Uncle Marcus nodded to the balcony saying, “She’s out there and specifically asked for you to join her.” I popped to the balcony. Oden linked, “You could’ve popped to mate the whole time. I’m just saying.” I shot back, “Where were you with that critical thinking idea thirty minutes ago?!” Oden huffed but didn’t say anything.

Melanie still had her mask on. My mate whispered, “Please don’t hate me.” Then pulled off her mask. I walked over and yanked her into me. I told her, “I could never hate you.” Melanie snorted, “You knew… I didn’t feel your surprise… or even mild surprise shooting up my foot. You knew it was me.”

I told her, “Yes, I did know you were in the Resistance. God, you scared me.” My mate whispered, “I tried to call you… but… you didn’t answer. Then I came out here because I wanted you to know before everyone else.”

I surmised, “Then you wanted to tell me about being in the Resistance. There were other options out of that place other than Tenley opening a portal.” Melanie admitted, “I did want to tellyou… it’s just complicated and not exactly a conversation starter and….”

Cayden cut her off yelling, “Melanie, for god’s sake get in here!” I walked back inside with Melanie. She smiled, “So ummm…. I guess… you know… I’m kind of…” Cayden snorted, “In the Resistance, I know. Hell, I have known for a long time. I just haven’t had proof.”
