The two girls I couldn’t see… one adult and one pup, were being held. Someone was on the phone. I crashed through the window… then another figure repelled into the scene before I was thrown out of the vision.

Ok… so someone comes with me. I woke up and frowned. Was that who I thought it was? Kingsley was coming back? Did she come back by herself? Or did I go get her because Hastein is around? And for crap’s sake, WHO WAS GETTING KIDNAPPED?

I grabbed some clothes and grumbled about the stupid vision. It was so unhelpful. I went back to Elise’s office. Freya sighed, “Two hours. You slept for two hours.” I told her, “And I feel so refreshed.” I quickly put a strip on the door. It basically acted as a deadbolt. No one could get in, even with a key, unless I took it off. They could pop in here… but this might slow them down.

I put on the coffee, and put my hair up, getting back to work. Sierra linked me, “You’re already awake, aren’t you?” I answered, “Yes.” Someone knocked on the door. I sighed, removed the strip, and opened it. Sierra walked in with Abigial and food.

I quickly closed the door and got back to work. Sierra demanded, “Eat something. Then you can keep digging.” I stuck my tongue out at her but grabbed some fruit. Abigial chuckled,“Boy, you weren’t kidding about her. Don’t worry about anything, Mel. Since Si told me you’d be heads down, I’ll get the gym ready for your wolf less session.”

I said, “Gosh… we are a really good team already. People should be worried… we are so efficient, and we just started. Two Beta bloods and a Gamma… that could be a study.” Sierra snorted, “Later.” I agreed, “Definitely later.”

Someone tried to unlock the door, but I wasn’t worried since I knew they couldn’t get in. Freya said, “It was Rocket.” So, Phil. Well… his poor Beta brain was going to be in overdrive. I had Red Run, Blue Moon, and Yellow Hills files done.

I took a deep breath then sent them off the Beta’s, including my brother. This was not going to be a good email for them to wake up to. I’d have to dig more… I really hoped there wasn’t anything about Lux on here.

Sierra said, “Ok, we need to get to the meeting.” I blew some hair out of my face. I bartered, “Ten more minutes.” Sierra replied, “Nope, sorry. We are already late to the meeting you set up.” I sighed and grabbed the files I’d printed for everyone.

I locked my computer. Fowler smirked when I opened the door. Chason admitted, “I was about to knock and tell you the group in there is waiting with bated breath for what it is that you have. Fowler, KJ, and I didn’t breathe a word of your news.”

KJ snorted, “Not that anyone asked, but we didn’t offer anything to the unspoken questions thrown our way.” I laughed, “Thanks.” Chason winked, “Well, we wouldn’t want to steal your thunder, Muffin Luna.” They also didn’t want to say it. It was a heavy topic. Fowler agreed, “That too.” Ugh! Inside thoughts Melanie.

I walked into the meeting. Patricia’s face quickly morphed into a sneer. Yeah well… your days are numbered lady. Freya growled back at her in my head. I said, “Well… to be fair… Patricia doesn’t know that yet.” Frey snarled, “She betrayedmate and tried to out you as my human. She’s lucky I haven’t pulverized her.”

Haley was looking at me with an odd expression. I shrugged that off. Emmaline was already here, which was great. The following statements nearly had me fist pumping. I linked Sierra, “I was right! I knew it! That gives me a bump in percentages on the other powers being right! It’s so high now because I was right about Haley taking and giving a wolf… now this.”

Sierra replied, “Yes, it’s very exciting. Now, focus. Because Patricia said this was your fault.” Freya snarled in my head. I linked, “Technically… the treason committing woman is right. We called Emmaline and she figured out that ability because of us.”

Freya growled, “It’s her fault! She’s the traitor here.” My wolf had a point there. I let Patricia have it. I let it slip first that she’d told the Supernatural Council I was the white wolf. In hindsight… given how angry Xander felt about it… I shouldn’t have led with that as the opener.

Freya said, “The whole thing will make mate mad.” Sierra sighed, “Remember when we worked on easing people into things.” I replied, “She just made me mad… and it came out. It was in the rant.” Sierra chuckled.

Patricia clearly had no idea the Supernatural Council files were compromised. Freya growled, “She didn’t but her wolf is asleep and that’s weird.” It was. The fact Patricia didn’t realize that I’d be protected as the Luna… which puts her son in danger… was crazy. Plus, I could kick butt much better than Bradford could.

Patricia outed herself, admitting she wanted me gone. Not her best move… Xander’s rage was practically on my tongue. I shivered involuntarily over his feelings. I pointed out several facts.

Given who was on the Werewolf Council… they definitely wouldn’t let anyone have a say over me. I handed out the files that I’d gathered. I tried to give Xander his, but he’d ordered other to take it. I shrugged and linked Phil, “I'm really sorry.”

Phil asked, “For?” I sighed, “Xander is not going to get less upset about what’s in there… you’ll actually join him on his level of being upset.” Phil frowned and quickly started thumbing through the information.

Gage simply swirled his whiskey glass. I’d think it was too early for whiskey, but considering the information? Maybe not. Haley got through the file the fastest and her anger somehow almost knocked me over.

I asked my wolf, “Why can I tell Haley is so angry? She doesn’t look angry other than her gold eyes.” Freya answered, “Sensing emotions is another thing we can do. We can’t change them, but to a degree we can know what people are feeling.” Wonderful.

I clearly needed a manual on what Freya and I could do. The fury in the room was mounting. It felt like it was clawing at my throat. I felt someone’s hand on my back, and I felt calmer. I turned and saw TJ smile at me.

TJ linked, “I don’t know how you feel their fury, but I can tell you do.” I shrugged explaining, “It’s a white wolf thing I guess… thanks for the assist. I can’t do anything about it but their emotions… are intense.”

TJ offered, “I can help you work on how to not let it affect you so much. Breanna could help too.” I nodded. Breanna was their half Vampire/Fairy cousin who was also an empath. They could do something about it, being an empath though. I was just stuck with the emotions. Stupid Selene.

Patricia was arguing that what she’d done wasn’t that bad. I rolled my eyes. TJ snorted, “That crazy woman actually believes that. How bad is it? For my mom, dad, and brothers to be thisupset it’s bad.” I explained, “Everything held back about you… and your cousins… was reported on. How are you here… in this meeting?”

TJ smirked, “Angela told me I’d be needed specifically for you, but that I might need to help others. My little sister was worried about you the most because she said the anger knocked you down without me. She just didn’t know why” Angela. Dang. I needed to talk to her. She probably knew A LOT of things at this point.

I was pulled out of that by Bradford’s decision to give his mom’s money to charity. Jeez… I was actually starting to like Bradford. He still needed a less pretentious nickname… because Bradford sounds like a jerk.

Bradford was rightfully upset because Patricia was so stubborn she was refusing her culpability here. That didn’t surprise me though. She’d blame me for the rest of her life and never take a single ounce of responsibility. She was friends with Cassandra Conners for a reason. Like-minded people find others like them.

Aiden took Patricia to Faerie. I’d known he would… it was why I’d blocked off his calendar. He winked at me and mouthed, “We will talk later.” I pursed my lips because I didn’t want to talk to him later….considering I didn’t know why he wanted to talk. I liked to be prepared for conversations.
