This was the single best moment of my life, and I knew that I would do anything for this omega.
Chapter Fifteen
Kane
We were three days into the heat and Audrey was insatiable. The alphas were staying strong and attentive, but they were exhausted. Ansel and I were making sure everyone was eating and hydrating. They needed to keep their energy up and I took my duty as the pack beta seriously.
Especially because my efforts were appreciated in this pack.
It felt strange to settle into this role again. These were the instincts that I remembered. Before it was a duty that I felt needed to be fulfilled, though I was always met with harsh comments and aggressive behavior.
It made me realize they were never my pack. I was just a placeholder.
For something that had broken me so thoroughly, I realized that I didn’t feel much of anything about them now that my mindwas healing. The way I felt for them was only a tiny fraction of what I felt for Audrey the first time I met her.
She was strong and gorgeous, and so uniquely herself despite everything life had thrown on her.
Every other omega paled in comparison.
Audrey never made me feel like my designation didn’t matter. None of my packmates have, either. We were one unit and right now I wanted to do my best to make sure everyone was taken care of.
Someone sat at the kitchen table, startling me out of my thoughts. On instinct, I turned to grab a bottle of electrolytes and start heating up a plate but Rydell stopped me with a hand on my arm. I glanced up to see him raising an eyebrow.
“She’s asking where you are, beta,” he said pointedly before taking the drink and walking out of the room, giving me a view of his bare ass. At this point, no one was worrying about clothes since she’d ripped her way through several boxers in her haste to get to their knots.
Ansel was handling it well, especially because they didn’t go near him. We were all aware of each other, even now, and that meant giving the omega space to handle something this big.
He’d spent alone time with Audrey and the rest of his time keeping the bedding as clean as possible and helping shower her while I handled things in the kitchen.
“She was asking for me?” I questioned, a bit surprised. He gave me a look that was less than impressed.
“You’re part of this pack, are you not?” He was practically begging me to disagree with him.
“Alright,” I said, biting back a smile as I grabbed her a drink, pouring it over ice and adding a straw before hurrying to my omega.
Ledger, Ares, and Caspian were all with her still. From the way she was sprawled over Caspian and Ares, they’d just finished another round.
“She’s been missing you, Kane. You have to stop taking care of all of us and join in,” Ledger said. I knew I was focused on taking care of them all but I didn’t realize it was that bad.
“I’m sorry, omega,” I said as I crawled in between them. Her eyes were glazed over as she looked my way. I took the opportunity while she was still knotted to her alpha to press the straw to her lips. She drank it down greedily, draining the entire cup before taking several gasping breaths.
Despite the fact that she hadn’t eaten much, she looked healthier than I’d ever seen her. She was glowing. It went to show how important it was to give our omega the chance tobean omega.
“You’re doing so good for us, muse,” I said as I stroked her hair out of her face. She reached for me, pulling me closer and pressing her lips to mine.
She tasted like the sweet electrolytes and something that was all her own. They weren’t kidding about how her much her scent had changed. It was still there underneath, but that omega sweetness had enhanced it in a way that made my head spin and my body react. I was hard for her now, something that didn’t go unnoticed by her.
She wrapped her hands around me, squeezing tightly as she stroked me. It was nice to see the small pieces of her shining through. She was still here, under all of this heat. She had committed all of our little nuances to memory and they were coming out now.
Caspian shifted her fully into my lap now that his knot receded. I broke the kiss and glanced up at him.
“Your sister called to check in.”
He brushed his hand over her hair and nodded at me, almost reluctant to walk away. “I’ll go handle that and shower. I need to eat something, too. You’ve got it from here?”
“Of course,” I said, the end of it cut off as my omega pulled my face down to hers. She was a demanding little omega, taking what she wanted freely and I was so fucking proud of her for that.
It was a sign that she was feeling safe with our pack, knew that we would give her everything she needed and she could let her instincts take over.
