“Damn I missed you, baby. Let’s not ever be apart that long again.” With her arms around my neck, Luna held tight as she kissed me.
Hearing her call me that gave me a warm, satisfied feeling. The entire world seemed to brighten as soon as she walked into the room. Nothing mattered to me more than she did. Tonight I would prove that to her.
I shook my head, gently lowering her to the floor. “Never,” I signed.
She took a few minutes to greet her friends, talking about their holidays and gifts they’d received. I had yet to give her mine. She held tightly to my hand, not once letting go even when chatting with her friends. Knowing that she’d missed me as much as I missed her confirmed everything I already knew about us. She was the one.
“I have a gift for you,” Luna said, a huge smile on her face as she pulled me over to the staircase that led up to the top floor.
We sat together on the stairs, slightly away from the party in the living room, where we could have a moment of privacy. Opening her fluffy pink purse, Luna pulled out a neatly wrapped package, pressing it into my hand.
“Open it.” She motioned for me to hurry up. “I can’t wait to see what you think.”
Wanting only to make her happy, I tore at the wrapping paper. I turned over the small silver box, feeling it’s weight, imagining the contents before prying off the lid. Inside were two bracelets. One a thin silver design with a more feminine touch, the other thicker and more masculine. One had a moon carved into the metal, the other a sun.
“They’re couples bracelets,” Luna explained. “The moon is for me. The sun is for you. If you tap the sun, the moon will light up and vice versa. It’s a cute way to communicate when we’re apart. It could also be kind of handy in an emergency.”
A simple touch from one bracelet alerted the other. I definitely saw how it might be helpful in an emergency. Only a touch and I would know that she needed me.
I studied the bracelets for a long moment before crushing her to me in a hug. “I love it,” I signed. “It’s the perfect gift. Other than you, of course.”
She beamed so brightly, my entire heart lit up. “I’m glad you like it.”
Tipping her chin up, I captured her lips in a head spinning kiss that made me ache for more. It had been too long. Every fiber of my being screamed for this woman.
I savored the way her soft lips felt against mine. The way she opened up as I slipped my tongue into her mouth. Entangling it with hers. Reaching up to grasp a handful of her hair, I held tight as I devoured her mouth. My cock hardened, straining against my pants. There would be no more waiting.
“I have something for you,” I signed, reaching into my pocket to produce the small box I’d been carrying around.
Luna gave an adorable squeak of excitement as she took the box. She wasted no time ripping open the wrapping paper. Cracking the box open, she stared at the ring inside. A brilliant purple amethyst set in a white gold band.
“It’s a promise ring,” I explained, having to repeat myself since she was too busy staring at the ring to watch my hands. “My promise to love you. To protect you. To never try to leave this life without you again. And when you’re ready to walk down the aisle with me waiting for you at the other end, I’ll make it happen.”
Luna’s hand went to her mouth. Her beautiful eyes gleamed with tears. I’d known she was meant for me the moment she and I walked down the aisle at Rebel and Storm’s wedding. The next time she walked down the aisle, we would be proclaiming our forever.
Even though I knew we would get there one day, I didn’t want to rush anything. The last two months had taught me the value of time. The beauty of enjoying every moment.
“Wow, Casper. This is… it’s so beautiful. Thank you.” She watched in awe as I took the ring from the box and slid it onto her finger. “When the time is right, I promise I’ll be there. Readyto meet you on the other end of the aisle. There’s nobody else but you.”
The kiss she laid on me was steamy enough to get attention. Several people shouted for us to get a room. We broke apart laughing.
“Come on,” I signed, taking her hand and pulling her up with me. “Let’s go ring in the new year with our friends. Then we’ll ring it in alone together.”
The shadows that had plagued me over the last few weeks began to dissipate. Like seeing the world through new eyes, I blinked and everything had changed. We still had plenty of healing ahead of us. Only now I felt confident that we would persevere. We would come out of this changed, stronger, and better than fucking ever.
We spent the next few hours partying with our friends. Drinking and laughing. Refusing to let ourselves be caged by incidents from our past.
The girls started a little dance party in the living room, doing their best to get us guys to join in. Stray resisted for as long as he possibly could. Eventually, Codie wore him down. I took the opportunity to pull out my phone, getting a great video of him making an ass out of himself.
As the time drew closer to midnight, everyone began to pair up. Eager for their midnight kiss. I pulled Luna into my arms, nervous but ready. The coming year would be ours for the taking. Nothing would stop us now.
Codie led the ten second countdown, shouting it at the top of her lungs while everyone else joined in. As the clock struck midnight, I dipped Luna back in dramatic fashion, kissing her like my life depended on it. In so many ways it did.
Her arms looped around my neck as she kissed me back. Matching my enthusiasm every step of the way. I felt the hunger burning in her for more. I couldn’t think of any better way tokick off the new year than by giving her everything she wanted. I wanted it too. So fucking bad.
Cheers rang out. People shouted happy new year greetings. Couples kissed all over the room.
As Stray and Codie broke apart, he dropped to one knee before her. Pulling out a ring box, he took her hand. She gasped, her eyes wide with shock.
