“Let him come.” I sound bold but I don’t like shit like this and the fact that it’s to do with Quinn worries the hell out of me.
Colton leaves, practically fleeing.I return my focus to Ethan, who’s already looking at me.
“Did you know about whatever it is she has?” he asks.
“Yes.”
He sighs. “And you have no idea what it is?”
“Not a clue. She told me it wasn’t important now, but Bree told me it was how Quinn got her divorce.” I feel bad for uttering those words because I promised Bree I wouldn’t.Talking to Ethan though is like telling a closed book that will keep your secrets to the death.
“What the fuck. Logan, why didn’t you tell me this before?”
“Bree asked me not to say anything.I’m only telling you now because it’s important and I think Quinn could be in trouble if she’s being watched.”
“Of course she’s in trouble. The asshole is watching her and trying to figure out what she has on him.Add the crazy of wanting his ex-wife back to the mix and you have trouble on your hands.”
I bring my hand to my head. “I need to find out what she has.”
“Yes.”

“Are you okay? Your cheek is bruised,” Quinn says when I release her.
She’d thrown herself into my arms when I stepped into her room and she was shaking.She’s still shaking.
She looks exactly like what Bree described when she came to see me.Terrified.
Terrified of Riley.
“I’m okay, baby. Don’t worry about me, a little punch isn’t gonna knock me off my perch.”
She reaches out and takes the edge of my shirt, holding on.
“I can’t escape him. Riley’s always going to be around the corner, watching me.”
“Because he’s in love with you,” I say carefully.
I don’t want to talk about that.It’s important she knows, though, so she can be aware of how he might behave.This isn’t just about the dirt she has on him.That’s why it’s so messed up.It’s not like he doesn’t know where she is.He’s fully aware, so he doesn’t need to watch her.The watching is more about his anger that we’re together.
“I’m sorry. I’ve come here and caused all this shit.”
“No, you haven’t. But, baby… I need you to come clean and tell me everything.”
She gazes at me and wipes away a tear.“What did Colton tell you?”
“Enough. I know what you have on Riley is how you got your divorce.” I don’t have to tell her Bree told me that.Everything I know now is all part and parcel of the same thing.“I also know what you have could destroy him.Is that right?”
“Yes. It’s all true.”
“Okay, listen to me, I need you to trust me and tell me what it is.”
“Logan, if you know I can’t imagine you keeping it to yourself.You work with the police. If you know and you do something about it, then everything I want is gone.My freedom is gone. He’ll find a way to destroy me.”
“Quinn, please tell me. I think we can both agree that things have gotten to a stage where it’s important now.”
