Glimpses
“Rise and shine sleeping beauties! It’s Monday morning and there’s work to be done!”
A loud, cheerful voice yanked Leo from a deep sleep. He was gloriously warm all through and wrapped around a body that radiated heat like a furnace. The Irish tinted voice didn’t belong with that image.
He puzzled over that when his bedroom door banged open, and Roisin sailed into the room. She carried a tray holding two mugs and didn’t bat an eyelash at finding them sharing a bed.
Leo struggled to free himself from the sleeping bag’s constriction. “Is that coffee?”
“Coffee with all the sugar ye can want.” Roisin handed him a mug and set the tray on the floor. “Drink it while it’s hot. And don’t dawdle. I have breakfast on the stove.” She disappeared from the room as suddenly as she’d entered it.
“Ugh! I thought we’d locked the doors last night.” Finn’s sleepy grumble was sexy enough to give Leo inappropriate ideas. Inappropriate with company in the house at least.
“We did lock the doors. I even bolted them all.”
“As if a bolt would stop me…” Roisin’s voice floated up to them.
“This is embarrassing,” Finn muttered.
“Being caught in bed with me?”
“Nah. Nothing so mundane.” Finn cupped Leo’s cheek, fingers rubbing against stubble. “I’ve never been caught in bed with anyone. It’s Roisin acting so much like an elder sister that—”
Leo couldn’t hide his flinch.
“What did I say?”
“Do you have an elder sister?”
“No. Only child, remember? Do you?”
“Yes. And just imagining her busting in here—” He shuddered.
“Sorry. Roisin and … that… Ugh. That just sucks.” Finn reached for his coffee, slurping the first few sips while prone and resting on one elbow. “What time is it?”
Leo checked his watch. “Just gone six. That woman is a menace.”
“She’s here. That was in question.”
“Yeah, she’s here. And don’t I wish she wasn’t.”
Under the covers, Finn’s hand found Leo’s and squeezed. “She’s helping us get the store open faster. Focus on that.”
Leo would much rather focus on Finn. He’d been so sweetly responsive last night that Leo couldn’t help but want more.
The sudden tension in his body and the catch in his breath must have given him away because Finn chuckled. “No time for that now. More’s the pity.”
“Are you sure?” Leo gave Finn’s hand another squeeze. “We could shower together.”
The smile that lifted the corners of Finn’s mouth was a genuine one. “You’re all about new experiences, aren’t you?”
“Do you mind?”
Finn scrambled out of the sleeping bag and held out his hand to pull Leo to his feet. “Certainly not.”
“Only just too small for a rugby squad,” Finn giggled as he pulled Leo under the stream of hot water. The shower was as spacious as the bathtub and fit them with room to spare. “I may have had fantasies about this.”
“Rugby players?” Leo soaped his hands, for no other reason than the chance to put them on Finn.
