“I need ye to say it,” he demanded, pausing his touch for a moment.
“I am yours,” she rasped, biting her lip as need crashed through her, demanding more of his touch. “I am yours to do with as you please.”
He kissed her fiercely, and she responded in kind, kissing him with all the passion that blazed within her, crackling as wildly as that glorious bundle of nerves.
And as he kissed her, he slid his fingers between her slick folds, his thumb taking over the exquisite strumming of her secret bud.
“Oh!” she cried out as his fingers stilled at the entrance to her sex.
“Nay other man will touch ye,” he rasped, his breath hot against her lips. “Where I touch, nay one else ever will.”
She grabbed his face and kissed him, repeating, “No one ever will,” in a desperate murmur.
With that, he slid a finger inside her.
Her breath hitched as she collapsed into him, letting him hold her with one strong arm while his hand continued to work magic on her. And when he slid a second finger inside her, she couldn’t remember how to breathe at all. Her head pounded with the pleasure of it as she kissed him.
“Breathe,” he told her, hiding a smile against her mouth.
She drew in a gasping gulp of air, shaking as he curled his fingers inside her, pressing against another secret source of untold bliss. Less intense than the first, but when combined… the strum of his thumb against her bud with the slow pulse of his fingertips inside her, it was better than the fireflies. It was better than anything she’d ever dreamed of.
Light that couldn’t possibly have come from anywhere flashed behind her eyes, sparking inside her mind, crackling through every part of her until she felt like she must be aglow, her pleasure pulsing like the fireflies, illuminating the meadow in soft glimpses.
But something else was ablaze within her, something that had begun as fiery embers. It transformed in great leaps of ecstasy into an inferno that she feared would consume her entirely.
It already had control of her lungs, hindering her breath, and it seemed to scorch through her stomach, tightening the muscles there, while it raced down her thighs, making them tremble until her knees threatened to buckle.
He had created the most euphoric wildfire.
“Oh… Oh… Yes, Hunter!” she moaned as the fire rose. “Yes!”
He didn’t change his pace, maintaining the intensity, strumming and pulsing his fingers while leaning in to kiss her. It was like he wanted to feel the moment she was engulfed in that glorious blaze.
Just then, the inferno reached its peak and transformed into a molten wave of pure ecstasy. It seared through her veins, causing every muscle to tighten, every limb to shake, and rendering her breath no longer necessary. Her heart beat so hard that she could feel it in a thousand places. Her mind swam as those pretty lights became a red glow behind her eyes.
“Oh… Oh, God… Oh!”
The wave continued to rush through her, leaving no part of her untouched, unsatisfied.
All the while, Hunter kissed and caressed her, not stopping until the exact second the wave began to fade in its intensity, retreating to whatever fiery shore it had hailed from.
Grace willed it to come back, savoring the residual sparks that throbbed, relishing the full relaxation of her body, as she collapsed into his ready embrace.
Slowly, he withdrew his fingers, her breath shuddering as he did.
“Nay one but me,” he murmured, brushing a kiss against her lips.
She nodded, smiling. “No one but you.”
At that moment, there was no decision at all. She still had four full days left, but after that, how could she possibly step away from a man, a marriage, that could make her feel so much?
Indeed, she doubted there was anything or anyone in the world that could make her change her mind now.

Grace’s heavy woolen cloak concealed most of the damage that Hunter had caused with his blade. The sliced bodice and stays were tucked surreptitiously in her belt. He’d offered to carry them for her, but she had laughed and refused, saying it would be far easier for her to explain having such things on her person.
I should’ve lit that lantern again.
