He grins at me, like a happy puppy. I grin back at him.

“I think your ride will be waiting for you, I tried to make sure you had enough time to be clean and not stick to the seats on your way home.”

“And I’m truly grateful for that.” I chuckle.

“I’ll show you out.”

“Thank you, Connor.” He leads me out of the bathroom, past the paddling pool filled with cake and jelly and I say, “I will always be reminded of our evening together when I see these paddling pools.”

“Me too,” he smirks as we get to the door. He holds out his hand, “It’s been a pleasure, Roxy.”

“It really was Connor. Thank you. Goodbye.”

He leans forward and gives me a light dusting of a kiss on my cheek as he shakes my hand.

“Goodbye Roxy. Until next time.”

“Until next time.” I smile as I release his hand and head towards the lift.

When I get out at the basement level, Frank is waiting for me like clockwork. If only he knew what I had just been doing 30 minutes earlier,I think to myself. No one could ever guess.

When I arrive home, I climb the stairs, the whole house is asleep. Which is perfect. I check in on both my peacefully sleeping children. I then get myself ready for bed. James is sleeping peacefully on his back, and I climb in quietly and snuggle up to him. I’m glad James is more relaxed about my jobs now and no longer feels the need to wait up for me. Despite having just spent the last three hours with a dark-haired god of an Irishman, nothing beats getting home to where my heart is. I close my eyes and I’m asleep before he stirs and notices me next to him.

Two short days later and I’ve come down from the high of three orgasms with Connor and have been worrying myself into a stupor over my 12 hours of being a dog. I’m sure it’ll be fine; I’m looking forward to it. But what if it’s awful? He’s awful? Common sense tells me he didn’t sound awful, and Sophie was the one to tell me about pet play. She has always got my back, I trust her. I just need to get on with it and try and enjoy it. All my other jobs have been mind-blowing and unimaginable but so satisfying. The chances are this one is no different.

I am unsure what to wear seeing as the job description said I’d be naked, so I opt for an all-in-one black romper that is cute and fitted to my curves. If paired with a pair of black ears and a tail, I’d look like a divine cat.

As I pull the zipper up on my romper, I take a deep breath and look at myself in the mirror. The reflection staring back at me seems ready, but inside, a mix of excitement and anxiety churns. Today’s experience is uncharted territory, and the anticipation is almost palpable. I grab my handbag, checking Ihave my phone and a few essentials, and make my way out of the bedroom.

I pop my head into the kids’ rumpus room which used to be my home office before I moved into my own office outside of home. There is a computer in one corner facing the window where my son is currently sitting with an iPad to the left of him and a headset on. There is a sofa in the left corner where my daughter is currently lounging with her iPad on her lap and a movie on the TV.

I walk over to her first and kiss the top of her head. I’ve told the kids I’m going to a work event in the city and staying overnight there. I’ll be back in time to take my daughter to netball in the morning. My daughter asks me questions about who I’m meeting so I have to think on my toes but my son happily waves me off with a ‘bye mum, have fun’ as I hear his friends chatter on the iPad as they all play a Fortnite game together.

I head into our large open plan lounge to find James sitting over his laptop at our dining table. He looks up. “Time to go?” he asks, his eyes warm and knowing when they meet mine.

“Time to go,” I breathe out. James reaches out a hand for mine and squeezes it.

“You look nervous.”

“I am nervous,” I reply

“You are going to be just fine. You have enjoyed all the other jobs so far. This one is going to be no different.”

“I know…” I trail off.

“What is your safe word Rosie?”

“Neptune.”

“You use it the minute you want to tap out and leave. You owe them nothing. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. Your well-being is more important than anything. More important than the kinky dude who wants you to be his dog and whatever else he has planned for you ok?”

“Ok.” I try and give a reassuring smile. James has said this to me plenty of times since I was accepted for this job. I’m not nervous for the role I will need to play, it’s more being there so long. I’ve never been on a job longer than four hours. Twelve hours is next level and we both know it.

The chair James is sitting on scrapes along the floor as he stands to take me into a giant bear hug. “I love you,” I hear him say into my hair. My heart tightens in a vice, am I causing him pain and worry?

“Are you ok with me doing this?” I ask as I pull back and look into his baby blue eyes. His blond tousled hair falls around his face as he looks down at me.
