Chapter 7

Candy

I always feel a little bit sad when a festival comes to a close. Tired, happy and a touch of sadness. But Christmas is the worst. I always try to keep my head up like my dad taught me. But sometimes I just need a moment on my own. And this year, more than most, I feel confused about Jackson and the things he makes me feel. And up here in the mountains, I have been looking forward to a drive to clear my head.

With the rain washing out the festival, I took the chance to hop in my little Suzuki and head up into the mountains. But it doesn’t take long to feel like I might have made a mistake.

The rain is heavier than I expected. It’s cold. And passing little log cabins with smoke coming out of the chimneys makes me think of the families inside. Warm, together and loved. All looking forward to Christmas morning.

I pull over on the side of the road, considering whether to turn back or shelter up here till the weather passes over. What I wouldn’t give to have one of these little log cabins up here in the mountains. To happily spend my days baking, maybe with a certain, sexy Deputy Sheriff.

These aren’t glass half full thoughts. These are full-on Christmas wishes. I let out a little sigh, wishing I could turn back time to when I was kissing Jackson in the trailer.

Just then I see lights behind me and in moments, Jackson is hopping into my passenger seat.

“What are you doing here?” I ask.

He looks at me for a beat before speaking. It’s enough to set my pulse racing. “The weather’s turned bad and I thought I better check on you. And also, you’re parked up about three houses down from where I live. So I think it’s best if you follow me and I’ll get a fire started and get you warmed up. Sound good?”

I nod. It sounds amazing.

His cabin is beautiful. Larger than expected, the kitchen runs along the right hand side with a large wooden table and chairs. To the left of the door is a built in book shelf and a comfy old armchair positioned to look out the window. A few steps down to the lounge are where Jackson gets to setting a fire in the massive stone fireplace. A lounge and an armchair, more books, and a large area rug. Off to the side a wooden ladder leads up to a mezzanine floor.

“Come warm yourself by the fire. Are you hungry?”

I make my way over to him. He takes my hands in his, his warmth and the heat of the fire chasing away the chill from the rain.

“Candy, why did you leave the festival?”

“I just needed to clear my head. I’ve always dreamed of a little cabin in the mountains, so I came up here.”

“You knew I was coming back to see you.” He is frowning at me, his face serious, his eyes searching as though looking for answers.

I give a little shrug. Feeling out of my element but determined to push forward I decide I should tell him what I’m feeling.

“You confuse me. I’ve always been happy with my lot in life. My place is on the sidelines, watching other people be happy. I’ve come to terms with that. I even find my own happiness in it. I love bringing people joy. I love getting to watch their eyes light up at tasting something sweet. But then, the way you look at me, the way you make me feel….”

His fingers under my chin gently bring my eyes up to his. “Candy.” My name on his lips is just a whisper but it thrills me to my core. “You are not a sidelines kind of girl. Trust me when I tell you that you are the main event.”

“Let me show you.” His head lowers. His mouth claims mine in a hungry kiss. The last two times we tried this ended in disaster, but we are on stable ground now. My arms around him, he kisses me deeply. Hands exploring.

“There’s one more thing.” I’m breathing hard, it’s difficult to form the words. “I’m a … well, this will be my first time.”

“Oh, sweet Candy.” He puts a gentle hand to my cheek and kisses me softly. “I knew from the first moment I saw you that I needed you in my life. Will you let me love you? Let me show you what we can be together.”

With a nod, he pulls my sweater and t-shirt up over my head. His big hands on my skin. Holding me. Turning me as he plants hot kisses down the side of my throat. Over my shoulder. One hand over my breast. His rough skin teases my nipple till it is hard and erect.

When he puts his mouth to my nipple, sucking it into his hot mouth, his other hand on my other breast, it sends fire racing through my body. Making me hot and wet. My head spins as he continues to lick and suck, finding sensitive parts of my body I didn’t know existed. Skin to skin. His body heat so hot.

He makes quick work of my jeans zipped, pulling them slowly down and having me step out. I’ve always been shy about my thighs. But as he runs his hands up my inner thighs I no longer care what I look like. Just what it feels like to be touched. He nudges my legs apart. Picking up one foot and placing it on a higher step. I hang onto the mantle piece as he begins to stroke my pussy.

I squeeze tight. “Relax Candy. I want to taste you. Do you trust me?”

Again I nod. But nothing could prepare me for the feel of his hot mouth between my legs.

My knees go weak. I have one hand on the mantle and one on his shoulder.

His mouth is magic. Licking. Sucking. His tongue circles my clit as his fingers push inside. Everything is building inside of me, all of the emotions. My head spins, I feel as though my body is floating. Everything is hot and only getting hotter. Oh, God, it’s like a fever.
