My eyes widen in surprise, and I start patting at my chest and legs. Then I run my eyes over the length of her body, or at least what I can see of it since I can’t move my head much.

“We’re still dressed,” I tell her.

She shakes her head in confusion. “What?”

“We got clothes on,” I explain. “There’s no exposure, indecent or otherwise.”

Her eyes get bigger yet. “There is otherwise exposure when we’re making out in the parking lot of a public space!”

“Oh…” I move my eyes back and forth, unsure of what else to say. “Well, let’s take it somewhere where there’s only exposure to us,” I suggest.

“What?”

She pushes at my head and lets go, only causing me to fall back on my ass in the opening of her car door. I look up in confusion. Why would she be so angry? I thought I’d come up with a good solution to our problem.

“You…” She points a trembling finger at me. “You…” She’s having a hard time finding her words. “You are a dog,” she yells.

I decide to take that as a compliment, so I give her a wink and smile, waiting for her to invite me over to her place.

“Ugh, move!” She grabs onto the handle to her door, ready to yank it closed.

“Wait, what did I even do?” I stand up but don’t move away so she could close the car door.

She snaps her eyes at me, and they look wild. I am mesmerized. I want to see her like this when we’re in a bed and…

“You are unbelievable,” she yells at me. “And you have no awareness of your surroundings.” She throws her arms up, hitting her right hand on the roof of the car.

“Are you okay?” I take a step forward to look at her hand.

“I’m fine, and I am out of here.”

This time, she pushes at my middle, and I move away of my own free will. She slams the door closed and starts the engine.

“Hey!”

I knock on her window. Surprisingly, she rolls it down, staring daggers at me.

“Are we still on for the wedding and your party?”

For a second, I am convinced that she’ll say no. She just has that look on her face.

“Yes, still on,” she snaps.

I am taken by surprise, and now I don’t have a good comeback.

“We should…” I pause to think. “We should get together beforehand to hammer out the details.”

“What details?” she snaps again. “There are details?”

“Yes!” I cling on to that. “Lots of details.”

“Fine.” She turns her face away, staring through the windshield. “Call me then.”

“I don’t have your number.” Thank God my brain still works. “Just theHolidatesthing.”

She lets go of the wheel and grabs her handbag that’s sitting on the passenger side. She opens it with a very aggressive move, then looks through a side pocket. She gets something out that she then slaps in my hand.

“Here you go. Call me.”
