I did reach my hand out, so that I didn’t leave him hanging, and once he got a hold of my hand, I don’t know if his ass might have watched too many romance movies growing up, or someolder men in his life might have tried to teach this move to him, but he lifted my hand, as if he was going to kiss it, and I politely removed my hand from his, putting it down at my side, not wanting him to put his lips on me.

“My bad. I didn’t mean any harm. I think you’re beautiful though. I would like to get the chance to take you out. Me, and my homies going out tonight, so that we can celebrate wrapping up this shoot. Are you busy tonight? Can you pull up and celebrate with us?” he asked me.This was the part where I was going to have to shut him down, and I prayed that he was mature enough to handle the rejection.

It wouldn’t be my first time having to reject a man, and I was confident enough in myself to know that it wouldn’t be my last. When you reject a man, it can always go one of two ways; they can accept the rejection, and just move on about their business, or they can get offended, and now all of a sudden, I’m all kinds of bitches, and hoes. Living in Miami, it’s a different level of men out there, who will grab all on you when they see you out in public, and when you shoot them down, they’ll get disrespectful as hell. I have so many stories to tell about that.

“It’s okay. You and your friends can go ahead and enjoy. I’m calling it a day. Me, and Blake are leaving out first thing in the morning, so I want to rest,” I was nice with my answer, and so far, he was taking it well because he nodded his head, accepting what I’d just said to him.

“That’s cool. I understand. You mind if I get your number though?” he was persistent. That’s when I had to do the awkward laugh, and I was cursing Blake’s ass out in my head, wondering where the hell she was.

“I’m not interested in you in that kind of way. Congratulations to you on everything that you have going on with music, and I wish you the best with your album that’scoming out soon, but that’s really all that I have for you,” I responded, and he nodded again.

“You gotta nigga back home or something?” he inquired.

That’s when it was my cue to walk away because I knew that he wasn’t going to let the situation go. I politely excused myself, walking through the empty space that we had on the right of us, and as I was walking away, he was yelling things out to me, telling me how he was a good nigga, how he wanted me, and the things that he could buy me. Not once did he call me out of my name though, so I guess that was a good thing.

Eventually, I no longer heard him because I’d made it outside. Once outside, I spotted Blake, and she was giving out hugs, so I knew that she was wrapping up her conversations with everyone. I stood antsy, rocking my body back, and forth. This went on for about two minutes, and when she eventually turned around, her eyes landed right on me, and she rushed on over, moving swiftly in the high heels that she had on.

She made it in front of me, standing directly in front, with a questionable look in her eyes.

“What happened? Why you looking like that?” she wanted to know, and I rolled my eyes super hard.

“Girl, you know I was doing everything in my power to stay out of the way from Flex. He caught me when I was coming out of the restroom. He invited me out tonight to hang with him and his homeboys. Of course, I turned that down, so he proceeds to ask me for my phone number, and when I told him that I wasn’t interested, he got in my business, wanting to know if I had a man at home. Girl, come on. I’m ready to damn go,” I shared with her, pulling her damn hand, so that we could go. She was laughing the entire time like this was the funniest thing in the world.

We eventually made it away from the studio, and Blake was able to flag down a taxi for us. She climbed in first, and I was right behind her, climbing in next. I closed the door behindmyself, as Blake was leaning forward, giving the driver her address. I think before he even pulled out, my head had already hit the window, and I closed my eyes, so that I could take a small nap for the car ride that we had.

Blake ended up tapping me, letting me know that we’d reached our destination. I woke up, looking around, confused out of my mind. Blake used the ‘tap to pay’ option that the taxi had, and once she finished, that’s when I opened the door, stepping out, and she scooted over, so that she could come out my way as well. From there, we thanked the driver, Blake closed the door, and we made our way into the building.

We walked over to the elevator, where I was the one to press the button, and we stepped on, as Blake pressed the floor for us, and she stood on one side of the elevator, while I stood on the other.

“I hope you’re not mad that I’m about to run out, and see Hendrix right quick,” she responded, and I looked at her like she was crazy, as I waved my hand at her.

“Mad? Blake, I’m tired. I’m about to take my ass to sleep. Have fun. Get a nut in for me too,” I said, and she laughed.

“Oh baby, the way I heard you and Tank on that phone last night, it won’t be long for you to get your own nut,” she joked, and I laughed off what she said, like her response didn’t hold any truth to it.

We eventually stepped off the elevator, and it was a quick walk getting to her apartment. Blake let me in first, and I quickly removed the designer tennis shoes that I was wearing, leaving them by the door, and Blake came over, doing the same.

I went for the living room area, grabbing a throw blanket that was in the basket, and I flopped down on the couch, lying on my side, prepared to knock out. The last thing I heard from Blake was for me to think about a spot that I wanted to go to tonight once she was back. I remember just a little bit of her coming overto me at some point during my sleep, telling me that she was getting ready to leave, and she kissed me on my cheek. I can’t even tell you what time that was that she’d done that.

10:36 P.M.

The sound of my phone vibrating on the arm of the couch woke me up from my sleep. It felt like it was aggressively vibrating too. I was confused, not having any sense of time, or any realization of where I was, and that’s how I knew that I had gotten some good sleep.

I looked around the living room, and it was pitched black, except for some of the light from the skyline view shining in through the patio door. I tried to look over where Blake’s bedroom door was, just to see if she’d made it back, but the door was closed, so I didn’t know. It was slowly making sense to me where I was, and I picked my phone up, seeing that Free was calling me on Facetime. I quickly answered for her, and I threw my body back into the couch, groggy as hell.

“Where you at? Everybody been calling you,” was the first thing that she said to me when I picked up.

“Girl, I was sleeping. What time is it? I didn’t even look. I saw you were calling, and I just answered,” I revealed.

“It’s 10:36. You and Blake sleeping? Ya’ll supposed to be at a fuckin club right now, standing on tables, shaking ass, and throwing back shots,” Free went on, but I wasn’t paying her any attention because I clicked out of the call, so that I could look at the other text messages, and things that I had.

Tank texted me two hours ago, telling me to call him, and a message from Blake came in ten minutes ago, saying that she was on the way. My mom and Tommie called me as well. After seeing that, that’s when I clicked back onto the facetime call with Free.

“Blake left, but I just saw her text, telling me that she was on the way,” I responded.

“Where she went, and why you didn’t go with her?” she wanted to know.

“To go see her nigga, Free. Damn,” I snapped, annoyed that I was awakened from my sleep, and she was asking me back-to-back questions like this.
