“I don’t need water.” He runs his hand over my hair. “I need a dance.”
“Brady.” Maddox’s voice comes from behind him, his expression stern.
“Brother!” He lifts his hands in the air.
I can see the concern on Maddox’s face. We all know what day it is, and over the years we’ve never been sure how Brady chooses to cope. Obviously, he chose alcohol this time.
“How about a shot?” Brady points to Maddox, before pointing at Cooper. “You in?”
My eyes track Emily as she slithers up next to Maddox and reaches up for his hat. She plucks it from his head, smiling as she goes to lower it onto hers. Before she can drop it in place, he snatches it from her hand and shoves it back on his head.
Everyone around here knows what that means.
His hat. His girl.
“Maddox.” She pouts. “You know what it means for me to wear that!”
“I know exactly what it means.” He hardens his jaw.
“So, you’re saying I’m not your girl?” She questions.
Our eyes meet briefly before he glances at her again. “No, you’re not.” He tips his head in Brady’s direction. “Didn’t you come in here with him tonight?”
She grins, her smile calculating as she makes eye contact with me. “I was just trying out the Ivy method. Why stop at one brother when you can have both?”
Chapter fifty-one
Maddox
I watch the color drain from Ivy’s face, Emily’s eyes twinkle in satisfaction.
“Emily," I grit out.
“What?” She shrugs.
“What is she talking about?” Brady chuckles and glances at Ivy.
“They didn’t tell you?” Emily crosses her arms.
“Emily. Now isn't the time,” I warn.
He frowns. “What is she talking about, Maddox?”
Fuck. Not tonight. Definitely not tonight.
“Nothing. Why don’t I get you home.”
“She’s been fucking him," Emily sneers. “Has been for years.”
Ivy jumps from the stool, her eyes frantic.
Brady looks at her, before looking at me. “Ivy? And you?” He lets out a dry laugh. “No way. She wouldn’t even spread those pretty little legs for me.”
“Watch your fucking mouth," I snap, taking one step farther to bump my chest with his.
Her searches my face, and he must see it, because he scoffs. “Wow.” He looks over to Ivy. “So that’s why you ended us. You were too busy riding my brother’s dick?”
“Brady,” Ivy hisses. “It wasn’t like that. And how dare you when you were screwing anything with a pulse.”
