“In all honesty, I want to know everything,” he confesses softly, his eyes quickly darting away. “But I thought we should start small and work our way up to everything.”
“Okay,” I say, smiling so wide my cheeks hurt. “My favorite food is pizza. Especially pepperoni pizza. Garlic bread is a close second. Turtle cheesecake is a close third.”
“Good to know,” Jett says, more to himself than to me. It makes me all warm inside, wondering if he asked because he wants to make me my favorite foods.
“Truth or dare.”
“Dare. And don’t you dare tell me to stick my hand in the toilet.”
“Fine,” I say, pretending to be annoyed. I think for a moment, trying to come up with something silly and not, let me see your dick. “I dare you to tell me your cheesiest pick up line.”
Jett seems caught off guard by my dare. He thinks about it for a moment before sighing. “I don’t really know many. Are they even a real thing? I can’t imagine going up to someone and saying ‘are you from Tennessee? Cause you’re the only ten I see’ and having that actually work.”
I chuckle. “I like that one. Honestly? I have no idea. If someone came up to me and said something like that I’d at least hear them out because they were brave enough to make the first move, despite it being ridiculous.”
“Huh, I guess that’s a good point,” Jett says, nodding his head. “You’ve got to respect someone brave enough to make a move like that. I can honestly say I’ve never tried that before.”
“What? Hitting on someone?”
“Yeah,” he says with a shrug. “I’ve never really been interested in people like that.”
“Would you be open to it now?” I find myself asking. I clamp my mouth shut, ready to apologize for overstepping yet again but Jett is quicker, answering my question before I can say more.
“It depends on the person,” he says softly, giving me a little smile. “I find myself drawn to one person in particular, which is quite the surprise.”
“Oh,” I say, just barely above a whisper. “That’s umm, that’s good to know.”
Jett looks like he’s going to say more but he quickly shakes his head. “Truth or dare.”
“Well, I did truth already so I guess this time it’s dare.”
“I dare you to shift so I can see your other side,” Jett says. His eyes widen and he quickly adds, “if that’s okay! I don’t mind if you’d rather not, I totally understand.”
“It’s totally fine! Just maybe don’t look for a second,” I say with a chuckle, standing up and walking behind the couch. I quickly shuck off my clothes. When I stand up, I realize Jett has turned to look at me. His eyes roam over my chest and his cheeks turn a pretty pink color. I don’t want to read into things but that look makes me think he likes what he sees.
My stomach flutters and my cock perks up with interest. Thankfully, the couch is too high for him to get a good look down there. I clear my throat and his gray eyes snap up to meet mine. I give him a wink that makes him sputter and turn back around. I can’t help but chuckle as I let the shift wash over me.
One moment I’m standing on two feet and the next I’m on all fours. I lean my chest against the ground, stretching out my body, getting used to the feeling of being in my wolf form. Then I trot over to the couch, showing off for Jett.
“Oh wow,” he murmurs, awe on his face, his eyes lighting up in a way that makes me want to prance around for him. “You’re beautiful, Landon.”
Oh, there goes my heart. Part of me thinks my heart never stood a chance. Once Jett opened the door and let me into his home, I was a goner. My heart has chosen him and there’s no talking it out of it. His words roll across my skin like a gentle caress.
“Your fur looks so soft. I just want to hug you despite knowing you’re awolfand not a dog,” he says with a chuckle that warmsme to my very soul. Instead of overthinking, I do exactly what my heart tells me to do. I leap up and get myself on the couch with my front paws, landing in Jett’s lap. Immediately, he wraps his arms around me, hugging me against his chest. His arms are so big and strong as he holds me. Jesus, what I wouldn’t give to feel these arms around me while I’m in my human form. He runs his hands down my flanks, petting me.
Oh. Oh wow. That feels really nice.
“Even softer than I thought! Wow, you’re so pretty, Landon.” That last part is spoken barely above a whisper.
I feel like I could get lost in this, Jett’s gentle touches, his soft yet deep voice. His ocean scent. I feel like I’m lost at sea but Jett is the lighthouse keeping me from crashing against the rocks. He’s anchoring me here, attaching himself to my heart.
I’ve never felt emotions like this hit so strong. They’re overwhelming but I welcome them, opening the door to my heart and letting them in. I care about Jett. I want to be with him. I want to kiss him and hold him and do so much more with him. I want every little thing he’s willing to give me.
All of this is terrifying, even more so because these feelings are happening so fucking quickly.
Jett helps me onto the couch all the way and I flip onto my side. He immediately starts petting my belly. Right when he hits the spot under my ribs, my right leg starts pumping like crazy against my permission.
Oh. My. Gods.
