“It’s nice to meet you,” Matty says, finally breaking his position, and instead standing awkwardly behind me.

I pat the spot on the couch directly to my right and raise a brow. “What are you being weird for? Sit down.”

That only makes the blush on his cheeks go wild, and my forehead scrunches in confusion.

What is up with him?

Even still, he walks around and takes a seat, making my chest hum with happiness.

“Cal is already in bed,” I say to Miya. “But if you want to video chat tomorrow, I’m sure he’d love that.”

“So would I. I’m working from home tomorrow, so it works out.”

Miya is a graphic designer at some start up out in LA.

“I should be heading to sleep myself. It's late.”

She hums, and I narrow my eyes at her. “Goodnight, Miya.”

“Goodnight, Ei,” she says all sing-song. “Goodnight, Matty.”

He startles just a little and sinks down into the cushion a smidge. “Goodnight.”

I toss my phone beside me as soon as the call disconnects, and as cute as Matty’s embarrassment is, I feel a little bad for springing that on him.

“Sorry about that.”

He shakes his head, and some of the tension in his shoulders dissolves.

“Just took me by surprise. You never told me you have a twin.”

I put my hand to my chin in thought. “I guess I haven't. Hell, there's probably a lot we haven't thought to tell each other.”

“Like our star signs and shit.”

I bark out a laugh. “No, but our birthdays would probably be on the list.”

Matty smiles softly. “November sixteenth.”

The day after Miya’s wedding. Damn, I’ll have to miss it.

“February twenty-ninth.”

That makes him pause, and then his own laughter sparks and fills the room.

“You poor unfortunate souls. When do you celebrate on non-leap years?”

“Oh, that one is simple. Miya takes the twenty-eighth and I take the first. Except on leap years. We celebrate those together.”

Matty’s eyes crinkle with the edges of his smile.

“That's cute.”

“Don't tell Miya. She’ll rebuke it.”

He laughs again, and it makes my stomach clench.

“How old are you both?”
