Epilogue
Eden
Six Months Later
I pulled my car through the gates of what was now Chase’s and my home. It was early—just barely past sunrise—and I smiled as I looked out over the purple skies and the turquoise water. I’d changed my flight time on the charter jet that Chase arranged for me so I could surprise him. Exhaustion was heavy in my bones, but it was counteracted by the exhilaration of seeing my man.
The night of the charity ball had been an unforgettable night in so many ways. Not only had Chase’s speech been a huge hit, but the event raised well beyond the goal the hosts were looking to hit. In fact, Graham, Dexter, and Hollis wanted me to host the event annually for them. I’d agreed.
The money my company made off the event not only put us back in the black but allowed me to pay off some outstanding business loans I’d still been paying on.
Chase and I did our best to make up for lost time by holing up in the Presidential suite for three days. But then it was time to get back to reality, and Chase headed back to the island, but we’d made plans for me to fly down the following weekend.
I flew down and never went back.
Well, that’s not true. I did go back to pack my apartment up and turn my keys in. I could do my job from anywhere, and I had a team I trusted to be my eyes and ears in New York. In fact, I promoted Katie to Vice-President and left her in charge. The team loved her, and she was dedicated to the business.
But the back and forth for events was wearing on me, and I would be doing it a lot less frequently, especially since I’d decided to start an event service here on the island. I already had a couple of weddings scheduled for spring of next year.
I left my suitcase in the car and crept inside as quietly as I could, hoping I could surprise my man in bed. He was usually up early, but not five-thirty a.m. early. God, I’d missed him. I was gone a bit longer than normal this time—ten days—and while we’d had phone sex every night, it just wasn’t the same. When I walked into the room, I stopped and just stared at him. I couldn’t believe that sexy man was mine.
He lay face up in the center of the bed, one arm over his head, the other resting on his chest. The sheet was pulled up to his waist, leaving his chest bare but covering one of my favorite body parts. The white of the sheet was stark against his tanned skin. A five o’clock shadow darkened his strong jaw, and I bit my lip in anticipation of feeling that beard burn against the inside of my thighs.
I toed off my shoes in the shadows from the breaking dawn coming through the wall of glass that faced the ocean. I grinned as I quickly shed down to nothing and slid under the covers with him. I brushed a hand over his chest, his skin warm under my touch. I lifted the sheet and peeked under it. My small grin turned into a full-blown one, and heat rushed between my legs. He wasn’t at full staff yet, but he was getting there. I dropped soft kisses on his neck and shoulder, causing him to moan and shift slightly, but he didn’t wake up. I narrowed my eyes at his profile. The kisses I dropped this time weren’t as soft, and I nipped at his ear, my gaze on the area under the sheet that began to tent.
But still he didn’t move.
When I brought my gaze back to look at him, those beautiful green eyes were on me. Lust, love, and a dash of humor danced in his eyes.
Before I could take my next breath, Chase flipped me on my back and was stretched out over me, my wrists in one of his hands and pulled above my head. I was completely bare to his gaze, and everywhere he looked made me feel like he branded me.
His lips curved into a smile. “Well, well. Isn’t this a pleasant way to wake up in the morning?” He slanted his mouth over mine and kissed me with such intensity my toes tingled.
“Surprise,” I murmured against his mouth.
Chase
Surprise indeed.
The last ten days had been hell on earth without Eden with me. The only thing that got me through and kept me from being a grumpy, tormented bastard—besides the nightly phone sex—was knowing that she was coming back. That there was nothing stopping us from being together.
I bucked my hips, rubbing my hard length against her, her moans and mewls burning me from the inside out. She arched against me, pleading for me to fuck her.
Who was I to turn that down?
When I slid into her wet heat, we groaned at finally being able to come together after the torturous foreplay over the last ten days. I drove into her, and she wrapped her legs around my waist, meeting my thrusts. The way we moved together always made me drive harder, the feeling of love so big in my chest, I thought it might burst.
Her core muscles clenched around me, and she tightened her thighs around my waist, putting me in that vise grip I loved. We came at the same time with such intensity, I swore the top of my head blew off.
I shifted off of her and gathered her against me. She snuggled her warmth into my side, and there was no place I’d rather be than right here with her for the rest of my days.
But there was something I needed to do, and I couldn’t think of a better time.
“I want to show you something.” I shifted toward my nightstand, causing her to groan.
“No, don’t move. You’re so warm.”
I chuckled but pulled out a newspaper from my drawer. “I saw this yesterday. I wanted to see what you thought.”
