Adam laughs. “Go big or go home.”

Chapter Fifty

Adam

“I fucking knew it,” Dominic says so loudly it gains the attention of a few nearby tables.

“Do you have to be so loud?” Emmet hisses, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“Do you know him at all?” Mikah asks.

“Yeah, unfortunately, I do.” Emmet sighs.

“If you knew it, I don’t know why you’re so surprised,” I say to Dominic.

Dom narrows his eyes. “I’m not surprised. I’m just happy that I’m right.”

“Whatever,” Emmet says. “Are you going to drink that?” He points to the glass of water in front of Dominic.

“Did he fuck all the hydration out of you?” Dom picks up the glass to give Emmet. “Because you’re totally a bottom.”

“Shut the fuck up,” Emmet mutters. “I already regret telling you.”

I laugh, taking a sip of my water.

“You know, all these years you could have been making money with me,” Dominic tsks.

“I’m your brother,” Emmet argues.

“Yeah, and your husband is sitting right here,” Mikah says, gesturing to himself.

“I’m just saying.” Dom throws his hands up in defeat. “Step-brothers sells hardcore.”

The waitress comes over to take our order and bring us more water. It’s humid as hell today, and the AC in this place doesn’t work great. Though, maybe it’s just from drinking so much last night. And maybe we did fuck the hydration out of ourselves, who knows?

“Seriously, though, you had me convinced that you were straight for a while,” Dominic says, pointing at Emmet.

“Can we change the subject? When do you head back home?” Emmet says.

Mikah shrugs. “Whenever we want.”

“So you’re staying here until further notice?” I ask.

“Come on, guys,” Dominic tries. “Stop being party poopers.”

“Yeah, basically. Not sure where we’ll go after. That’s the convenient thing about being able to work anywhere,” Mikah explains.

“I’ve been going back and forth with putting people under my broker’s license. Seems like an easy way to make money,” I say.

“Oh? You’re a realtor?” Mikah says.

“Yep. Pretty boring compared to what you do.”

“Convenient, though. My house is up now, but Dom will be selling his, so we can move into something different.”

“I don’t have a license in California anymore, but I can get you in touch with some awesome people I worked with for years.” I give Dom a hard stare. “And I don’t want to work with him anyway.”

Emmet chuckles, while Mikah gives a curious look.
