“Oh, shit. For real? It must be someone really important. She’s been holding you back for a while.” Ada dragged Tomesha over to the corner near the kitchen door. “You’ve been taking your kenaf weed like you’re supposed to, right?”

Tomesha nodded at the mention of the herb all human donors took. It was a necessity to ensure their blood stores remained intact. It helped with blood production to ensure the humans would be able to make more blood after being a donor.

“Of course. It’s required.” Tomesha had never known when this day would come so she had to make sure she was ready at a moment’s notice.

“Good. Did she say who?” Ada asked.

“Hey, are you two going to be whispering over there all night? Or are you going to be serving?” a rough voice called out.

Ada’s head snapped around to the vampire. A scowl slipped onto her face.

“Hold your horses, Harold. You aren’t going to fucking wither away if you have to wait another damn minute,” Ada growled. She turned back to Tomesha with her face softening. “Well, whoever it is must be special. Now try to relax. You look as nervous as a hooker in a church.”

“Well, I’m sort of?—”

“You know what I mean.” Ada rolled her eyes.

Tomesha laughed at the vampire using a human phrase. She nodded and blew out a deep breath.

“If you need to, take a shot of whiskey or vodka to calm your nerves.”

“You know I don’t drink when I’m working.” Tomesha shook her head. That was one rule she stuck to. Some of the donors were known to have a drink or two to help them work, but she stayed away from liquor. She needed a clear head to be able to focus and ensure her vampires felt as if they were her top priority.

“Well, then go mingle. See if anyone needs a drink. I’m sure you’re not allowed to service while waiting for your VIP.”

“I’ll do that. I’m just too nervous right now to concentrate on anything else,” Tomesha admitted. She went over to snag a small tray along with a few empty glasses. She grabbed a crystal decanter that held a warmed blood type O. It was a common blood type that most vampires didn’t mind consuming. She collected a couple of napkins and made her way around the club.

The butterflies in her stomach were in overdrive. She went around to tables in an attempt to keep her mind busy. She didn’t want to think about the general until she had to. She focused on refilling goblets and mugs to bypass the time.

“Tomesha, darling. Come here,” a familiar voice called out to her.

She turned and took in Valentina making her way to a chaise. The tall vampire was dressed in a skintight, one-piece leather outfit that highlighted all of her voluptuous curves and the large bulge between her legs. The beautiful woman offered Tomesha a sensual smile and bid her to come to her.

Tomesha smiled and strolled over. She already knew Valentina would be wanting her. The nights she’d serviced her were always pleasurable.

Tomesha was one of the only humans that Valentina allowed to service her. She paid top dollar for Tomesha’s time. Valentina’s gaze roamed her as she made her way to her. The heat in her gaze wasn’t missed.

Only Tomesha was going to have to let her down easy tonight.

The general was to be the only person whom she serviced. Which meant Valentina was going to have to find someone else if she had an itch to be scratched.

“Hello, Valentina,” Tomesha greeted her. She stopped near her but kept a little distance between them.

Valentina immediately frowned and patted the cushion next to her. “Come sit, darling. I want you next to me.” Her eyes lit up, her smile spreading to a sexy grin.

Her fire-engine nail color caught Tomesha’s eyes.

“I can’t right now.” Tomesha didn’t know what to say. She’d dismissed plenty of suitors when she was already occupied with Valentina or another. Valentina, she’d never declined before.

“Why?” Her smile immediately disappeared.

“I’m reserved,” Tomesha whispered. It sounded so cold and as if she were a product being sold in a store. She blew out a deep breath and stepped forward. “How much longer will you be in town?”

“Reserved? By whom?” Valentina stood abruptly. She moved to Tomesha and took her by the arm. Anger filled her eyes.

Tomesha stepped back. Her muscles grew tense. She’d never seen Valentina upset, and it scared her. As if recognizing Tomesha’s reaction, Valentina loosened her hold on her arm.

“I’m sorry, my darling. It’s just that I’ve been waiting to see you.” She reached up and caressed Tomesha’s face. A smile appeared again on her lips. She studied Tomesha. “Maybe I can offer up more money for an inconvenience fee to Mistress and she can find another human for them.”
