Stormey turned around, her heart racing. Hegna slid behind her, reaching over head. Stormey gasped at the sight of a row of diamonds passing her eyes. The cool gems rested on her skin. Her hand immediately came up to feel the necklace. Hegna pressed a kiss to the nape of Stormey’s neck, sending a shiver down her spine.

“Go, look at it,” Hegna whispered.

Stormey didn’t need to be told twice. She raced over to a mirror on her wall. Cici grinned at her as she scurried from the room. Stormey made a note to mess with her for not letting on that Hegna had returned. Cici was supposed to be loyal to her.

Stormey paused in front of her reflection. Her vision became blurry. She moved closer to it, her gaze locked on the row of diamonds. They looked flawless. A larger one was centered, resting on her chest.

“I…I don’t know what to say. It’s so beautiful,” Stormey whispered.

Hegna came to stand behind her, wrapping her arms around her. She pulled Stormey against her. She leaned down and dropped another kiss on the side of Stormey’s neck. It was near where she’d bitten Stormey.

“I’ve never even seen something so beautiful before.”

“I have,” Hegna murmured. Her eyes held Stormey’s.

A wave of desire slithered through Stormey’s body, ending at her center. Wetness seeped from her core. Hegna’s nostrils flared as if she sensed Stormey’s arousal. Stormey glanced over at the bed. Hegna’s hand tightened on her.

“Hold that thought, miere. We have somewhere we need to be.”

“Where?” Stormey spun around in Hegna’s arms. Maybe now she could find out what was going on or where they were going. It was almost ten o’clock in the evening.

“There is a dinner party being held in our honor,” Hegna said.

“Wait! I have something for you.” Stormey broke away from her and rushed over to the nightstand by her bed. She had almost forgotten she had purchased this gift for Hegna. She opened the door and pulled out the small velvet bag the witch had given her. She walked over to Hegna. This was the perfect time to give this to her. They were now working on their relationship, and Stormey wanted to give her the gift.

“What is this?” Hegna appeared shocked.

Stormey grew nervous. She placed the soft pouch in Hegna’s palm.

“I saw this and knew I wanted to gift it to you,” Stormey whispered.

She watched as Hegna opened it and reach inside. She brought out the ring and paused, studying it. Stormey’s heart raced. She couldn’t read Hegna’s expression.

“Do you like it?”

The aquamarine stone was flawless and the same color as Hegna’s eyes. Hegna slid it onto her finger, and it fit perfectly. Something flashed in her eyes that Stormy was unable to read.

“It is the most beautiful and thoughtful gift I have ever received,” Hegna said.

Stormey’s heart skipped a beat. Hegna tossed the empty pouch on the table nearest them before turning back to Stormey. She pressed a soft kiss to her lips again.

“Now, let’s get your cloak. We wouldn’t want to be late.”

“May I take your cloak, my lady?” A woman approached Hegna and Stormey as they descended a stairwell that led underground.

After leaving the castle with their entourage of security guards, they were driven to the other side of Black Hollows. The structure that was their destination would have been easily missed had Stormey been looking for it. Once they entered the building, they immediately descended a stone spiral staircase that took them far beneath the earth’s surface.

Stormey was beginning to learn vampires truly had spent a lot of time underground. How did humans not know there was an entire civilization that existed not only beside them, but also underneath them?

Her most recent lesson with Miss Lavana had centered around the underground society and structures that had been built centuries ago. She was still in awe at what she had learned and pictures she’d seen in their history books.

Stormey spun around and allowed the woman to assist her out of her cloak. Hegna handed the woman hers as well. The woman disappeared into what looked like a coat room.

“Come, miere.” Hegna wrapped a possessive arm around Stormey’s waist.

They were in an open grand foyer. It was shocking how high the ceiling was. The decor was warm with rich woods, cream-colored walls, and priceless artwork hung. A few sofas and tables were arranged around the area. Tasteful music floated through the air. Hegna led her through the space and down a short hallway.

The doors to a few rooms were open. Stormey caught sight of feedings in one to her right. The other was darkened, but the moans and sighs coming from it alluded to the acts being performed. Hegna’s hand lightered on her waist. Stormey bit her lip. She once would have been shocked at what she was being exposed to, but now it was becoming second nature.
