“A lover?” Mythia growled.
She hadn’t thought that her mate may have been in a relationship with another. Jealousy reared its ugly head. She was a possessive dragon, and the thought of any other person putting their hands on her mate in a sexual way was enough to make her see red. Her dragon roared. It wanted to fly high into the sky and release its blazing fire.
Sascha shook her head. “I’m not sure.”
“Show me.”
The seer placed her fingers on Mythia’s forehead, and immediately Mythia was catapulted into the vision Sascha had been shown.
It was that of Kelsey and a handsome man drinking together at a bar. He had his arm wrapped around her shoulders while they drunkenly sung a song. The vision transitioned to another scene where they were in a factory, working alongside each other. The manner in which they touched each other revealed they were close. Elbowing each other, shoving playfully, laughing at something they shared. It could all be considered a form of flirting.
Was this man courting her woman?
Mythia was thrust back into the present.
“I will kill him,” she sneered. Spinning on her heel, she marched over to Kelsey. She was so enraged, thinking that her mate was in a human relationship.
She would never want to know of past lovers her mate may have had. If she were to find out, she would go after them all and strike them down for just having touched her.
“Who is he?” Mythia demanded.
“Who is who?” Kelsey jumped and turned to face Mythia, her brown eyes wide.
“The man you’re around all the time. I saw him in the seer’s visions. He will come for you.”
Kelsey sat forward. “Jasper?”
So the male had a name.
Jasper.
It was a weak, human sounding name. Whoever he was, he would not be taking her mate from the castle.
“You’ve heard from him?” Kelsey asked frantically. She pushed off the couch and stood before Mythia. “Please. I have to speak with him.”
“You are not going to speak to him.” Mythia took Kelsey by the arms and held her close. She would never let him near Kelsey. This woman was hers, and any relationships she’d had in the past would cease to exist. “Did you forget that you are my mate? You belong to me now. He cannot have you.”
“It’s not like that,” Kelsey cried out. She fought to free herself from Mythia’s hold, but she tightened her grip.
“Then what is it like? I saw images of you and him together. He put his hands on you, and you allowed it. You laughed at his jokes, and you—”
“He’s like a big brother to me!” Kelsey shouted, tears gliding down her cheeks. “We’re best friends. There has never been anything between the two of us. He was here when I snuck into the building. I told him to leave if I didn’t come back to him.”
“What?”
Mythia released her. The sight of her tears was gut-wrenching. She hadn’t meant to make Kelsey cry. The possessive nature of her being took over her body. She glanced down at Kelsey’s arms, afraid she had hurt her.
“Jasper is the one person who has always had my back. We’re friends, nothing more.” Kelsey angrily wiped her face with her hands and looked at Sascha. “Did your visions show you anything other than us being friends? Did they show you we grew up together? Did they show you all the times I fucked other women?”
Kelsey took a step toward Sascha and Raven, but Mythia snuck a hand around her arm and pulled her back. Turning Kelsey to face her, Mythia reached up and cupped Kelsey’s cheek.
“Do not be mad at her. It was I who made assumptions.” She was an ass. Instead of just asking her mate calmly who the man was, she let her jealousy get the best of her. “I’m sorry.”
Kelsey stared at her for a moment before looking away.
“Besides my mother and grandmother, he’s all I have,” Kelsey whispered.
“You have me now, and I won’t let you go.” Mythia leaned down and pressed a hard kiss to her mate’s lips. Kelsey tried to speak, but Mythia didn’t give her the chance. It had been hours since she’d had a taste of her mate, and that was too long. Until they completed the bond, the intensity of the mating call would grow.
