I love you, Red,he whispered.

Her eyes widened, and her grin grew.

I love you, too, Alpha, she said.

“Wolf,” Kadir’s voice broke through their stare-off.

For a second, Maxius had forgotten they had an audience. He looked at the warlock standing beside them with a hard glare in his eyes. He hoped her cousin wouldn’t try to come between him and Kamila.

“My cousin means the world to me. If one hair on her head is harmed, then you will answer to me.”

“I will always protect her with my life,” Maxius swore. This was one promise he didn’t have a problem meeting. Kamila would be the top priority in his life. “She is my world. My wolf will always be ready to defend her.”

Kadir stared at him for a moment before holding out his hand to him. “Who am I to go against fate?”

Maxius took his hand in a firm grip. Kamila wrapped her arm around Maxius’s waist.

“Kadir, thank you,” she whispered.

Maxius’s wolf settled down. His beast was beyond thrilled that they now had Kamila in their life.

Soon they would sit and begin planning their future. Their courtship had been a whirlwind. There were many things they would need to figure out.

Where they’d live. If they would go between their two homes.

And most important of all, bringing wolves and witches together.

“So, I will let you two go. I’ll see you later.” Kadir gave them a salute and headed off in another direction.

Kamila smiled and pulled away from Maxius. She walked backward and motioned for him to follow her.

“Come, Alpha,” she teased. “Do I need to run for you to chase me?”

Maxius grinned. “I’ll give you a ten-second head start.”

His wolf stood at attention, ready to give chase after his mate.

Kamila spun around and took off running. Her scarlet cloak flowed around her.

Maxius’s wolf threw back its head and let loose a howl.

“Ten, nine, eight,” he began counting. His gaze was locked on the red material flowing in the wind behind Kamila.

This time, nothing was going to stand in his way of chasing after his mate.

Epilogue

Peace had blanketed the union of the priestess of Eternal Flame and the alpha of the Wolffang pack. Kamila had shared the truths behind the death of Hazel with her coven. One of her first calls to action after the burials of the two members of the coven was to start off with honesty.

The past few months had been tense because the killings were done by wolves, but with the help of Kamila and Maxius, the members of the coven saw that the pack was not to blame for the action of three rogue wolves.

Kamila sat in her chair in the great hall of the temple. There was a gathering of witches today. Kamila had continued something her grandmother had started ages ago. An open forum where members of the community could come and share their worries or concerns.

She glanced over to her left. Maxius sat in a chair that was made in the image of hers.

With him as her soul mate, they would guide both the coven and the pack together. If they were to take their town of Hollowgate into the future, it would start with them.

“Please come forward. State your name and your question for us.” Kamila gave the young woman a smile. The room had seating throughout it. There were many people who participated.
