If anyone came for Kamila, he wouldn’t have any issues killing them to protect her.

Kamila rolled to her side and stiffened. She reached up and touched her sore shoulder. Her eyes flew open, and the memories of why her shoulder hurt rushed back.
She had mated with Maxius.
Relaxing back on her pillows, she blew out a deep breath. She searched her heart and felt no wrongdoing. It made sense. After all, she had come to the realization he was the other half of her soul. As much as she wanted to resist, fate wouldn’t allow her.
Maxius was hers.
She glanced around the room and found him standing by her window looking outside.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
He glanced over at her with his amber eyes. Her core clenched. How did she think she was going to avoid mating with him? He was so sexy, standing there naked. It allowed her to take him all in. She had tried to avoid looking at him before when they were in the woods, but now she openly took him in. He was tall, muscular, and all hers.
“We are not alone,” he replied softly.
She instantly stiffened.
“What?” she snapped. Thoughts of coaxing him back to bed with her faded. That would have to wait until later. “Who is it?”
She hopped out of the bed and snatched the sheet to wrap it around her. Walking over to him, she arrived and peered through the glass. She didn’t see anyone.
“It’s the wolves. Just as I thought. They were going to come for you,” Maxius growled. His canines peeked from under his lip. He turned his feral glare to her and laid a hand on her shoulder. “Have no fear, mate. They won’t touch you.”
“I don’t need you to fight for me,” she snapped. Anger rushed through her at the boldness of the wolves. They thought they would not only take her grandmother from her but kill members of her coven then come for her.
They were sadly mistaken.
She was not her grandmother.
Kamila backed away from Maxius and spun around. He grabbed her arm and tugged her back to him. She hissed at him and glared into his eyes.
“This is a wolf matter,” Maxius countered.
Kamila tried to break free from his grip, but he tightened his hold on her.
“Listen to me, Red.”
She closed the gap between them, not taking her eyes off him.
“Why do you keep calling me by my nickname?” she whispered. It was killing her to know. She was actually growing to like for him to call her by the nickname given by Hazel.
“It fits you.” He reached up and cupped her face. “Fiery, passionate, dangerous, strength, power, and desire, all balled up in one sexy body. Red.”
Kamila’s body swayed into him.
She had asked a question, and dammit if he didn’t come back with the perfect answer.
“Maxius,” she murmured.
“I know we’ve only just mated, but I will have to educate you on how a wolf takes care of his mate.” He pressed a kiss to her lips. “He defends his woman at all times. These wolves have come for you, but they will not lay a hand on you. This I promise you.”
Kamila was turned on beyond belief. The alpha waves were broadcasting loud and clear. Maxius was ensuring any wolf within a hundred miles would know an alpha was around.
Kamila reached up and pulled Maxius’s face to hers. She covered his mouth with hers and poured out all of her pent-up emotions that consumed her.
