She was officially turned on.

“And that’s why you were asking if I were a siren?” She cocked an eyebrow at him. She giggled, thinking back when he’d asked her outright if she were one.

“Something like that,” he said.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you but I’m just plain old human.” She shrugged and turned back to her window.

They fell into a comfortable silence. She had questions burning in her chest that she had to ask. “Where are you from? I love your accent.”

The second part flew out before she could even think. Her cheeks warmed in embarrassment.

“I’m from a town in Italy named Turin,” he replied, his lips curling up into a small smile.

“Oh, so that’s why the casino is named the Turin?”

“Yes, I wanted to bring a taste of my country here. It is a beautiful town with a rich history.”

“I’m sure it is. I would love to visit Italy one day.” She sighed. In the future, she hoped to earn enough money to be able to travel wherever she wanted. It was just her, and if she had the cash, she’d just pick up and go, but seeing that her bank account was running low, it would be a long time before she’d get the chance.

“I would love to take you. When do you want to go?”

She snapped her head around and stared at him. She couldn’t have heard him right.

“Excuse me? Did you just say you’ll take me?” She leaned back in shock.

He was a handsome man, and rich beyond her dreams, but to just jet off to Italy with him, that was downright crazy. He had that dark and brooding manner down that sent a slight shiver running along her spine when he gazed upon her with his hooded stare.

“Do you have something keeping you from traveling?” he asked.

She watched him move from his chair to beside her. She turned to him with her heart racing.

“I can’t just up and leave to fly off to Italy.” She released a nervous giggle and glanced down at her hands, unable to maintain eye contact with him. Her nerves grew, and her body trembled under his gaze.

He didn’t make her nervous; she was afraid of her own actions.

She was drawn to him. He sat near her, and she ached to slide closer to him, eliminating the gap between them.

Just the thought of touching him had her heart rate racing.

“Why not?”

Her gaze flew to his, and her breath caught in her throat. He was so close, and they were alone in the back of a dark car. A finger tipped her chin up. Her mouth unconsciously parted, and she snuck her tongue out and moistened her lips.

“I have responsibilities,” she whispered, leaning farther into his embrace. What those were at the moment, she couldn’t remember. His touch was rendering her mind blank.

Sorin leaned down and gently brushed his lips against hers. A moan slipped from her lips while a growl rumbled from his chest. He gathered her close, closing the gap between them. He crushed his mouth to hers.

Sorin’s tongue demanded entrance into her mouth. It swept in, finding hers, coaxing hers to duel with his. She rested her hands on his hard chest and couldn’t help but return the kiss. The fire of it intensified her craving for him. Never before had she ever experienced a need to be taken by any man.

Sorin’s hand slipped up her back and dove into her thick hair. He gripped it tight and angled his head to deepen the kiss.

Her body grew tense. She wanted to strip the clothes off of her body and allow him to have his way with her.

He tore his mouth from hers, and only then did she realize the car had stopped.

Breathing hard, she took notice they were parked in front of her apartment building. Turning back to Sorin, she glanced down at her hands and found them gripping his shirt tight.

“Invite me in, Athena.” His voice was a hoarse whisper.
