“It’s so nice to meet you, Damara Jackson,” he murmured.
Their hands stay collapsed together. Her heart raced, and her wolf threw back her head and released a howl.
He was her fated mate.
Damara opened her eyes and winced. Tears ran freely as she thought of the first time she’d met Gavin. It had been the best night of her life. It would forever change her future.
She paused.
She’d remembered their initial meeting.
She blinked to try to clear the tears and held back a sob.
She remembered everything.
Their first date, their first kiss, the first time they’d made love, and even the day Gavin had asked her to mate with him. She saw it as clear as day.
Even the day she’d boarded the plane and the kiss he’d given her before she’d joined her friends. It all came crashing back to her.
“Come back to me, baby,” he whispered, running his fingertip along the side of her face.
They stood outside the plane, saying goodbye to each other.
“Always, Gavin. You’re my heart,” she murmured, standing up on tiptoes and pressing her lips to his.
Little did she know that would be the last time she’d see him until recently.
The tears escaped her eyes and ran down her face.
Her hands tingled and were slightly numb, still tied behind her. She found herself lying on the ground with a full fire blazing near her.
“Look who decided to join us again.” Dreven chuckled, walking over to her. He pulled her up into a sitting position. “Hopefully the little nap you took helped you see everything clearer.”
She glared at him, afraid she’d say something she’d regret. Her face ached from the hit, and her temple burned from whatever her head had struck when she’d fallen to the ground.
Her animal paced inside, waiting to break free. Damara pushed her beast down.
Now wasn’t the time to shift.
Gavin was close.
She wasn’t sure how she knew, but she just felt her mate was closing in on them.
Patience, she whispered to her wolf. Our mate is coming for us.

Gavin glanced around at his men and was met with the focused eyes of his wolves. They had run for most of the night. His wolves were in top shape and could handle it. Spencer’s call to the sheriff’s department had paid off. Their contact, Nick, belonged to their pack and had tailed the truck carrying the wolves who had abducted Damara.
Nick had met them hours ago with the exact location of the camp the wolves had set up. They would soon be upon this camp and they would be able to grab his mate.
But he wouldn’t sneak in and get her.
Oh no.
Gavin was going to confront the wolf. The three wolves would be no match for Gavin and his men.
He would be challenging the wolf in an age-old fight to the death.
