“Gavin!”

Damara’s scream echoed through his head. Gavin released a growl, pulling up to his house. Something was wrong. His wolf was pacing frantically in his chest, demanding to get out. He wasn’t sure how he’d heard Damara’s desperate call, but it came through loud and clear. He tried to reply, but he went unanswered. Their mating link hadn’t been forged since they had yet to mate.

He cursed, now wishing he had listened to his wolf.

Mate, his animal growled.Danger.

“I can sense that,” he snapped. He cut his truck off and stepped out of it. He scanned the yard and found three sets of clothing carefully placed near the porch steps. His feet carried him over to the stairs. He breathed in, taking in the scents.

Solon, Jaynie, and Damara.

He glanced around the property and didn’t see any sign of the trio.

What the hell is going on?

The hairs on the back of his neck rose.

“Where are you, baby?” he murmured, trying to feel Damara. Somehow the whisper of her voice had made its way to him.

His attention was grabbed by two wolves breaking through the brush. They sped along the land headed straight for him. He took a few steps to meet them, sensing their urgency.

As they drew closer, he recognized Solon and Jaynie.

Where the fuck is Damara?

“Shift,” he demanded once they slowed down before him. His alpha waves sliced through the air.

Their bodies immediately began the change, and seconds later, his sister and enforcer knelt on the ground, gasping for breath. He saw the bruises lining their bodies while his anger overcame him. “What happened?”

“Damara wanted to go for a run to stretch her legs,” Jaynie began. She paused, out of breath. Her sorrow-filled eyes rose and met his gaze. “I did as you said and took Solon with us.”

“We didn’t go far. Just a few miles before they approached us,” Solon said, wincing as he remained kneeling before Gavin. “We were getting a drink over at the creek when they attacked.”

“Who?” Gavin already knew the answer, but he wanted to hear it out loud.

“The other alpha, Dreven,” Solon replied.

Gavin’s chest rumbled, and he unconsciously took a step toward his enforcer. Gavin was not pleased with what he was hearing.

“He and his men took her.”

“Where?” Gavin’s voice deepened to a guttural growl. His beast was rising, ready to break free. He fought an internal battle of wills and was slowly losing.

“They headed west in the woods.”

“Gather the rest of the enforcers. We’re going to get my mate back,” he snapped.

They both rose to their feet. Solon took off, running toward the porch. He snatched his pants up and pulled out his cell phone.

Gavin brushed past his sister, his attention focused on the woods.

“Gavin. Wait for backup. Please,” Jaynie begged, rushing forward and grabbing his arm.

His hard stare cut to her, and she stepped back away from him and released his arm.

Her wolf submitted to his immediately. She cast her gaze down to the ground.

“They will have to catch up to me,” he bit out around his canines. His animal came forward with such a force it sent Gavin to his knees.
