Damara took a sip of her lemonade and smiled. The overwhelming sense of longing to find her other half was no longer nagging her. That urge to find where she belonged was gone. Without a doubt, she knew she was home. She glanced over at her companion on the wide porch and chuckled.

“Not remembering some things would be cool,” Jaynie snorted.

Gavin’s younger sister was a beauty. Damara was sure she was already leaving a string of broken hearts around the town. She had the same intense eyes as her brother’s, but her features were much more softer and feminine.

“It is. I’m starting to get glimpses of my memories back,” she admitted. The memory of her dream came to the surface. Her heart quivered with the knowledge that her best friends, who she should have grown old with, would never experience a full life with theirs having been cut short.

“Really? That’s amazing!” Jaynie gushed, excited. Her features lit up as she danced in her chair.

Gavin was gone, having to leave her at home to take care of some pack business. He’d left her under the watchful eyes of Jaynie, and his lead enforcer, Solon. With the threat of Dreven appearing, he didn’t want to take any chances.

Dreven was a reasonable alpha, and he would probably come to argue for her to return to him. She was confident that the two alphas would be able to reach an understanding.

“It is. I think being home is helping my brain.” She gazed out onto the beautiful land that stretched all around them. Her wolf was relaxed and settled. The call to mate with Gavin had been strong last night. She didn’t know how either of them resisted marking each other.

Damara smiled, thinking of how Gavin had marked her in other ways. She’d had bruises from their lovemaking but had easily healed already. Their lovemaking had grown frantic and lasted to the wee hours of the morning. She was shocked that either of them could walk. Had he not had to go off to take care of business, he would have kept Damara in bed all day.

“Want to do anything special?” Jaynie asked, wide-eyed.

“I would love to let my wolf out.” She stretched her legs out while wiggling her feet.

“I was hoping you’d say that!” Jaynie laughed, standing. She walked over to the door and pulled it open. She called into the house for Solon.

Damara stood and ambled over to the railing on the porch. Her eyes were drawn to the wooded area by the house. Her wolf whined, scratching at her insides.

Hold on, she murmured to her beast.

“What’s up, Jaynie?” Solon’s deep baritone voice sounded at the doorway.

“We want to go for a run. Do you have to come with us?”

“The alpha would have my hide if I let you go for a run without me.” He stepped down onto the porch.

Damara turned to him with a small smile watching Jaynie approach her. Solon’s eyes were locked on her back, and Damara held in her chuckle.

The enforcer was smitten with the alpha’s sister.

“It’s okay. I don’t mind running with a few people. I’ll just be glad to run loose and get to know the area again.” Damara put a hand on Jaynie’s arm.

“Okay, but it’s not like I’m not able to protect my brother’s mate.” Jaynie gave a slight pout and crossed her arms in front of her chest. As the sister to the alpha, Jaynie was a strong female wolf, too.

Damara knew the woman would make a strong mate to any lucky wolf.

“I’d be honored to run with you two. If I’m to mate with Gavin, it would do my wolf good to get to know you again.” Damara nodded to both of them.

Jaynie appeared to relax with the notion and waved her hand for Solon to follow them.

They removed their clothing and left it in neat piles on the porch. Anyone who came to the house would see them and know they had shifted.

Damara turned and gave herself over to her wolf. Her beast immediately pushed forward, dark fur bursting out of her skin. She fell to the ground, allowing the shift to commence. Her bones lengthened and reshaped themselves as her animal came forward Within seconds she was on all fours, and her wolf was excited to be free. She rotated and found two other wolves standing near her.

Jaynie gave a yip and took off running to the woods. Damara grinned and ran after her with Solon close behind. They entered the woods, scaring all of the smaller animals into hiding. Three hunters were on the loose, and none of the creatures wanted to be targeted.

Damara’s wolf was happy exploring the pack’s land. They went deeper into the woods. Not having a direct link to speak with them, they communicated with barks and yips. They would have to develop a link between the three of them, but that would only happen once she mated Gavin. As the alpha’s mate, her senses would increase to match Gavin’s and allow her to speak freely with anyone in the pack.

She’d lost track of how far they’d gone, guessing they were miles away from Gavin’s home. Her nose picked up all the scents of nature. They came to a small creek and slowly strolled toward it.

After their run, she was left a little parched. Jaynie and Solon joined her at the water. It was cool and fresh, quenching her thirst. Her ears pricked, sensing another animal nearby.
