Damara gasped as Dreven rushed back into the tent. He pulled her to a standing position and dragged her out.

“What is going on?” she demanded, stumbling behind him.

“I think your little boyfriend is nearby,” Dreven snarled. His eyes were wide and frantic as he looked around.

“Just let me go, Dreven,” she begged.

His grip on her arm tightened. A growling sounded, and he whipped them around so he could face where it had come from.

“This will all be over if you just let me leave. You and your men can—”

“Silence!” he hollered, cutting her off.

The deep growling grew louder. She locked her eyes on a patch of the woods and met the fierce amber eyes of her mate. She knew without a doubt that it was Gavin emerging from the shadows in the trees.

His massive fangs reflected the moon’s light. Other figures stepped from the trees, and her heart skipped a beat. Gavin and his wolves had Dreven and his man surrounded.

“Dreven,” Heath murmured, turning around in a circle.

Five wolves in total crept from the woods. The odds against Dreven and Heath was not in their favor.

Relief filled Damara. She knew Gavin and his men would show up. She whimpered as Dreven forced her in front of him.

“You are going to let us go!” he shouted, holding her against him.

She stiffened when something sharp pressed into her neck. Her heart raced, and she went still, not wanting Dreven to do anything irrational.

“Don’t take another step!” Dreven hollered at Gavin.

Gavin paused, his upper lip pulled back to reveal his full fangs. The massive canines were on display to show his strength. The air around Gavin’s wolf shimmered as he shifted.

Tears filled her eyes watching Gavin stand from his kneeling position.

She greedily took in his broad shoulders, hard abdomen, and the length that hung between his legs. She had to tear her gaze from his thick member. It wouldn’t do her any good to be getting aroused while they were in a stand-off over her.

“You are a coward to hide behind a woman,” Gavin growled. His fierce gaze was locked on Dreven. Gavin’s chest rose and fell swiftly.

Damara could tell he was trying to control his rage.

“I’m not hiding behind her. I came to claim the woman who promised herself to me,” Dreven countered.

“Where’s Jeff?” Heath asked, holding his hands in the air.

The wolf closest to Heath released a deep growl and moved closer to him.

“We didn’t kill him,” Gavin barked. His eyes didn’t leave Damara and Dreven. “Yet.”

“And we’re supposed to believe you?” Dreven retorted.

“Come from behind her and face me like a man,” Gavin demanded, striding forward. “I challenge you, Dreven. Alpha to alpha.”

Dreven paused as if to think it over. Damara shook her head, not wanting Gavin to put himself in danger, but the look on his face kept her from speaking.

Challenging Dreven would be a fight to the death.

Her mate was determined to see this through.

“How do I know your wolves would be honorable? When I win, who would stop them from killing me?” Dreven demanded.
