“There shouldn’t be any reason for you to be embarrassed. We’ll find the guy and take care of him,” he growled.

His tone was stern, and she knew that he would take care of the person.

“This time, I received a present delivered to my doorstep. I should have known better than to think it was from any of my friends.”

“When you say delivered to your doorstep, was it at your door or in your mailbox?” he asked, his eyes locked on hers.

“It was sitting on the floor by my door.”

“And do your packages usually get left at your door?” He paused to write something down.

“No,” she whispered. She thought of how the mailman usually left all larger packages that didn’t fit in her mail slot in the office.

He wrote a few more words on his notepad and she swallowed hard, unsure of what he could be writing.

“So, what was in it?”

She lowered her eyes as she began to describe the anal plug, how it was packaged, and the note.

“Where are the items?” he asked.

“At home.” She ran a shaky hand through her hair as she finally brought her eyes up to meet his.

“Penny, it’s a good thing that you came to me. I’m afraid that he’s starting to get personal with you. Whoever this is, knows you and your routine. They know things about you and your apartment building. If a package was left at your doorstep, then they have been to your building and are familiarizing themselves with your domain.”

Penny shuddered with the thought of her private area being violated. She was officially convinced that she needed to move.

“So, you’ll take my case?”

She watched as he nodded to her and stood from his chair. He walked over to a file cabinet, pulled out a binder, and handed it to her.

Advice for the Newly Rich, was the title of the booklet.

“I suggest you read this and implement the suggestions. This stalker will be handled, but first, I want to see everything that was sent to you and assess your apartment.” He crossed his arms in front of his chest and gazed down at her.

“Now?” she asked, getting to her feet.

“Yes.”

Her eyes slowly took in his dark ones. A tremor slid through her body from the heat of his gaze. She licked her lips, her throat suddenly parched. His sharp gaze followed her tongue before coming up to meet her eyes again.

“You driving or me?” she asked.

Chapter 5

Drake knewthat he was making Penny nervous. He’d had a hard time trying not to stare at her in the car. One phone call had a private car brought around to a secured location for them to leave his office.

Two seconds in her apartment building, he knew that she would not be safe here. If her stalker had escalated to sending sex toys and a threatening promise of soon, he was planning on making his move as promised. Drake was on edge with the thought that his Penny was in danger. He would tear apart the person who caused her to fear for her life.

He watched her as she placed her key into the door with a shaky hand. His wolf whined, pawing at his chest, wanting to get out to comfort her. Finally, she pushed the door open and turned to him.

“Welcome to mi casa.” She gave him a small smile and waved him in. He brushed past her and stepped into her small apartment. It was cozy. He took note that his Penny was not the tidiest person. A pile of laundry was sitting on the couch, and a few other things were strewn around the living room. “Sorry about the mess. Had I known I would have company, I would have certainly cleaned up.”

Drake looked at her and shook his head as she dropped her purse and immediately began filling her arms with items from the couch. “It’s no problem. I’ve certainly seen worse.”

And he had. Through his long lifespan, he had seen much worse. He could remember centuries ago, maids having to clean water closets. He could deal with a little laundry here and there.

“Let me throw these in my bedroom and I’ll get what you want to see,” she called out over her shoulder as she hurried down the hallway.
