I erupt.
An intense growl leaves my chest as my cock jerks inside her as she comes with me, crying out my name as she does. She pants as I let out a satisfied sigh and my cock settles inside her.Her hair hangs like a soft curtain in front of my face and I do my best to catch my breath as tiny whimpers escape her lips.
“Is … is it always like that?”she asks.“For you, I mean?”
“Never,” I tell her as we catch our breath together.
When her eyes find mine, she exhales and smiles.“Just checking.”She presses a kiss to my lips and leans her head against my collarbone.
We rest together in my foggy truck and listen as a crack of thunder sounds outside the windows and rain begins to pelt against the glass.
I stroke her bare back with the tips of my fingers and tryto figure out what to say now.Contrary to popular belief, it’s a rare day when I just hook up with someone I don’t at least sort of know.It dawns on me that I don’t even know her last name.
Cassie raises herself up off of me, moving cautiously in the dark, searching for her clothes and passing me mine as she finds them.I watch her as I pull my t-shirt over my head and find her bra for her.She smiles at me.It’s the fake sort of smile she’d offer a stranger. This moment has gone from passionate, intense and rich with emotion to awkward as fuck in one minute flat.
“So, do you … Fuck.It seems odd asking you this now, but what do you do?Where do you live?”I ask.
Cassie presses her finger to my lips.
“We’re not going to do that,” she says as she flashes me a genuine smile and fluffs her golden hair around her shoulders.“We both knew what this was.And for the record, I don’t live here.So we’re gonna leave everything we just did right here in this truck.”
She pulls down my sun visor and runs her ring finger under her eye, fixing her makeup.
“You’re off the hook this time.Besides, we don’t even like each other.Remember?”
It’s obvious that her mask from earlier is back in place now.I set my jaw. This is new for me.I’ve never been the one to be brushed off after sex before.I don’t know if I want to be “off the hook.”I guess there’s a first for everything but, truthfully, I don’t love this feeling.
Cassie does the final button up on her shorts and pulls her boots onto her feet before placing her hand on my knee.
“Listen I … I hate awkward goodbyes.Um … should I say it’s been fun?Or I’ll see you around?”
Something in me wants to push her for more, to tell her to give me her number so I can talk to her again. But the logical side of my brain reminds me that I live on a ranch in the middle ofKentucky. And, whoever she is, she’s a stranger and doesn’t seem to be looking for anything more than just one night. So, instead, when she takes my hat off her head and places it back on mine, I reach over and let my fingers trail down one of her curls.I tip my hat to her with a small smile.
“Did you drive?”I ask.
“Yeah, and I’m good to drive home.”I know she must be sober. She only had two sangrias and that was hours ago now.I move to get out of the truck and walk her to her own car.
“Alright, well, where are you parked?”I ask her, but she reaches out and places her soft hand on my forearm.
“Actually, can you give me a few female minutes?”
She pulls her phone out, the one I’ve heard buzz from my truck floor at least five times since we’ve been in here. Her brow furrows and then she slides it into her pocket.
“I’m just going to pop into the ladies’ room. Then you can have your honorable moment and walk me to my car.”
I set my jaw and nod as I do my best to burn the image of her pretty blue eyes into my brain.I lean over her and open her door from the inside.Cassie is momentarily caged in by my arms and my chest tenses and then relaxes as she climbs out of the truck.I lean my head back against the seat for a few seconds, watching her re-enter the bar.I feel like I’ve been taken out at the knees, and not because my bad one is aching from anchoring it on my truck seat while I drove in and out of her.But because the little princess made me feel something.Something more than lust.
I spend a minute fixing my clothes before I get out of my truck and head back into the bar to wait for her.The minutes tick by and I pace to check outside a few times, but Cassie never comes back.I even send Lindy, a girl I went to high school with, into the ladies’ room to see if she’s in there. That’s a fun conversation, but I have a moment of worry when I realize it’s possibleCassie could be hurt. When Lindy comes back out shaking her head, I know.
I’ve been ditched.Another first, but for some reason I decide to wait the extra hour until the bar closes just in case she decides to come back. But she doesn’t.I cast one last glance around the parking lot before I leave, though I don’t even know what kind of car she drove here. The whole way home, and even as I enter my empty cabin, I’m thinking about her pretty smile, the fire in her eyes, knowing I will probably never see her again and wondering how the fuck I’m supposed to forget her.
