My Daddy senses tingled. I didn’t like locked doors, but I understood. If what she’d been through was what I thought it was, it would take her a while to trust anyone, especially me.

I orderedsome food and sat down at my desk. Tinley needed some clothes. I sent a message to my assistant to order some things, guessing her size. I also sent out a message to Kyler and Agent Stanley, letting them know I’d speak with them later.

I called Randall back.

His face appeared on the screen before it finished the first ring.

“Hey, man. Where have you been?”

“Sleeping, Randall.” I rubbed my face. “You ever hear of it?”

“Hey, Josh.” Chandler’s face appeared on the screen behind his brother’s.

“Hey, Chandler.” I checked the time. It was late in the US. “What are you doing up?”

“Yeah, breaking up an international sex trafficking ring is an adrenaline boost.” He bobbed around like a kid on a sugar high. “Where’s Tinley? Is she okay? Fuck, what that girl has seen.”

I frowned. He knew more about my little brave girl than I did.

“Physically, she seems okay.” I heard the shower turn on. “How many did they arrest?” I changed the subject.

“The four guys who brought the girls and then four other guys, two Americans, businessmen, but wealthy with much to lose. A Saudi prince who’s already on a plane.”

“Fuck him, I’ll still ruin him.” Randall typed away on his computer.

“Rand, be careful, man.”

“Always careful.” He paused, stretched his neck, and then went back to typing.

“There was a Paris government dude who claims he was set up.” Chandler adjusted the monitor and Randall slapped his hand. “He put the whole party together. They were only staying for the night, so thank God your girl took a chance to escape when she did.”

“What about the other girls?”

They are in the hospital. They all seem fine physically as well. They were wondering about Tinley, but they didn’t know each other.

“Whatever the girls need.” I didn’t have to say it but did so anyway.

“We’re on it.” Chandler nodded.

“Are they connected to Santorini?” I flipped through the file Agent Stanley sent me. “It seems like a coincidence but then maybe not.”

“Ky thought the same thing. Be a nice little fuck you to us for what we did to him in Vegas.” Chandler stepped out of the picture.

Last summer, we helped raid a sex-trafficking party. Santorini, a minor gangster and hotel owner in Vegas used young women to recruit girls in college looking for a summer job. Once they got there, they were put to work. They had atype. A girl with little family and desperate for money. That’s how Kyler found Rayna. She was promised a job in a hotel making good money for her tuition and attended a party where, unbeknownst to her, she was going to be “given” to one of the party guests for the summer.

The water shut off in the bathroom.

“Guys, thanks for being on top of this.” I nodded.

Randall stopped typing and looked up. He gave me a curt nod and went back to typing.

“I’ll check in with you guys this afternoon.” I reached to hang up.

“Kyler wants you on a plane by tonight.” Chandler slid back into the picture. “Doesn’t want you there by yourself in case they figure out you’re involved.”

“I’m not leaving Tinley.” I blinked; a bit surprised the statement came out of my mouth with so much conviction. After one night, I was connected to her in an inexplicable way. I wouldn’t leave her side until I knew she would be all right.

“Bring her.” Randall said it like I was trying to smuggle a puppy out of the country. There had to be procedures, protocols for these types of things, and what about her family? Why hadn’t they been looking for her?
