“It’s Bull. That’s his ringtone, and he won’t stop until I answer,” he explained. My head dropped onto his shoulder. The moment was lost, and reality was encroaching inside these 4 walls.
The wait had not ended. I was still a married woman, and he was VP to the Ares Riders MC. I was an ol’lady in the club, and he was a brother to my husband. We were off limits to each other until I got that divorce. The upside was that I had more than enough motivation now to proceed.
Jim stepped away from me, into the middle of the room, pulled his phone out, and answered while pacing the floor.
“Hey Bull…okay…okay…yeah, I was in the middle of…yeah…okay…I’ll see if I can…might see if I can drive her down and back…no, it’s alright. I’ll talk to her…yeah…okay…k…yeah, bye.” He threw the phone on the couch and looked at me.
“That spoiled the mood, didn’t it?” he growled. I gave a wry smile and nodded. With a sigh, Jim stepped back in between my legs and caught me in a bear hug.
“I love you, My Queen, but…” He kissed my shoulder.
“I’ve spoken to the lawyer,” I told him.
He released me and leaned back, tracing my lips with a finger.
“I’ll wait for you,” he whispered, “just like I’ve always done.”
“I believe you.” I kissed the tip of his finger, and his eyes darkened again.
Then he stepped back and rolled his shoulders. “Are you able to get time off to come down?”
I nodded. “I have managed three days off, and my next shift is the day shift on Monday.”
Him shifting to business mode only made my desire for him increase. I watched him think about the words, as he changed into a stance similar to what I’d describe asparade rest.
“May I drive you down and back?”
“So formal,” I teased.
“You’re a queen. How else does one address a queen?” he explained with a grin.
Could this man become any more desirable? I hopped down from the counter. His eyes were on my chest as my breasts bounced, and I noticed his swallow. I took a step into him and kissed the hollow where his clavicle meets his throat.
“You may drive me anywhere you want. You’re already driving me crazy,” I agreed.
Then I stepped around him and walked into the bedroom to pack, listening to him growl in frustration.

Jim helped me up into the cabin of his truck. I had showered and packed, and he had arranged for me to stay with him in the guest room so we didn’t disturb Bull and Janie. We gazed into each other’s eyes as I sat down. Desire warring with obligation in his eyes. I knew he had rules he had to abide by. Number 1 was, don’t steal a brother’s woman…and he wanted to. I wanted him to. But the result would be catastrophic if we didn’t do it the right way.
“I’ll be good,” I promised him. “I won’t cause trouble between you and Blaze.” He broke eye contact and blew his breath out, then looked at me.
“I don’t care about Blaze. I’ve put him on his ass enough times, but I’ll try to do the same. You don’t need the trouble from the club,” he promised me. I leaned over and gave him a chaste kiss on the lips.
“I love you too,” I whispered.
His smile crept across his face as his eyes softened.
“I love you too”

Chapter 26: Daisy
After the night hiding out in Jim’s spare room where nothing at all happened, I turned up at my mother’s house bright and early on the borrowed bike. I knew Mom wouldn’t approve of me riding, so I parked a few houses up. She backed Dad’s stance that women belonged only on the back, and she was proud to be on the back of Dad’s bike.
The habits of a lifetime were formed a long time ago. For instance, she’d always been an early riser. She’d make a cooked breakfast for Dad. If he’d been out the night before, the extra time Mom spent in the kitchen would give him time alone in the bedroom to fish out whatever trinket he’d decided would make up for his latest indiscretion. There were a few times he didn’t have anything, and all he gave her were empty promises, but it didn’t change anything. She’d accept whatever it was, gush over it, put it on…and then go into a room and cry when he’d leftfor work. It had been a while before I realised that this was not normal behaviour for Moms. It was even longer before I realised that most couples didn’t cheat, and most men didn’t have to buy apology gifts. Some men just bought gifts because they liked their partner. No other reason.
