“Have you fucked him yet?”
“Luna.” I grabbed a burp rag and tossed it at her with a glare.
She dodged it effortlessly. “What? It’s a fair question.”
“No,” I muttered, crossing my arms.
“Are you not cleared?”
“No, I am,” I admitted, my cheeks heating further.
I was embarrassed. He’d seen me give birth to Scarlette, which was messy and gross. In my current state, I was leaking milk, especially when I got turned on. It was mortifying.
Luna’s smirk transformed into something closer to sympathy, but she didn’t say anything. She leaned back, still rocking Scarlette, letting me stew in my thoughts.
“That’s it. Final decision. You and Ollie are going out tonight.”
I glanced down at Scarlette, her tiny fingers wrapped around the edge of Luna’s shirt. “I’m not sure I’m ready to leave her,” I admitted softly.
Luna rolled her eyes, waving a hand dismissively. “Is there milk in the fridge?”
I nodded, chewing my lip.
“Perfect. I won’t even take her down to my apartment. We’ll stay here and play.”
Before I could argue further, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed up the stairs. Ollie appeared at the top landing, his expansive frame dominating the open space as he wiped the sweat from his brow. He was still flushed from his workout, his tight black athletic pants and shirt clinging to every rippling muscle.
“Hey, Luna.” He gave her shoulder a friendly squeeze. “Good to see you back.”
“Good timing. It’s a gorgeous summer day, so you’re taking Nova out tonight.”
Ollie’s brows lifted in amused surprise as he shifted his gaze to me. His brown eyes gleamed with mischief as he smirked. “Am I?”
He winked at me. “Alright, love.” He stepped closer, his voice dipping into something quieter, more intimate. “Take a shower with me?”
His hand brushed against my arm, gentle but firm, and suddenly, Luna’s insistence didn’t seem so impossible.
She didn’t even wait for my answer; she gave me a firm shove toward Ollie.
“She was about to say yes. Go on, you two. Off you go before I change my mind and take her down to my apartment after all.”
I stumbled forward, catching myself against his chest. His hands came up instinctively, steadying me, and the heat of his workout-warmed skin seeped through his shirt.
“Guess that’s settled,” he murmured, a teasing edge in his voice as his gaze locked with mine.
I walked toward our bathroom with Ollie. Behind me, Luna hummed innocently, rocking Scarlette as if this entire situation hadn’t been her doing.
“Where are you going to take me?” I asked as we walked into his room, his hand firm but gentle on my back as he pushed the door closed behind us.
“Out to the beer garden.” He grinned. “Nice pint, some pub grub, and a bit of sun while it lasts. Proper summer date.”
I raised a brow, smirking. “That’s your big idea of romance?”
“Absolutely,” he said, pulling me closer, his grin widening. “Good food, cold drink, and you sitting across from me looking like you do right now? Sounds bloody perfect to me.”
He wrapped his arms around me, bringing me against him.
“I’ve missed spending time with you. I love Scarlette, but it’ll be nice to talk. Just the two of us.”
