‘Henry?’

‘Oh, yes, it was fine, thank you.’

‘And how are you feeling?’

‘Fine.’

‘So, I thought we’d start by informing you that Mr Hunter-Savage will not be pressing charges.’

The tightness in his chest eased. He hadn’t realised how much the threat of prosecution had been weighing him down until it had gone.

‘We’re keen to see you back at work,’ Lorna continued.

Okay, this is good.

‘However, we would like you to attend therapy with a focus on anger management.’

‘Is that necessary?’

‘It’s a mandatory condition for you returning to the workplace.’

‘When can I start?’

‘Let’s see how the first session goes, shall we?’

Henry strodeout the Conqueror offices and bumped into Carl smoking a cigarette.

‘Foxy!’ Carl slapped him on the back. ‘It’s been weird as fuck not having you around. How was your birthday?

He smiled. ‘Almost as expected.’

‘Almost?’

He had the sudden urge to tell Carl more about himself than he’d ever done before.

‘I got a girlfriend.’

Carl’s mouth fell open. ‘What, as a present? I know your dad’s a bit wild. But…’

Henry smiled and shook his head. ‘No. I managed to get this one all by myself.’

‘Fair play, mate. What’s her name?’

‘Libby,’ he replied without thinking.

‘Hmm. Like that chick who did that improv thing with us?’

‘Yeah.’

Carl looked at him through narrowed eyes and took a deep drag of his cigarette.

‘Does she look the same as well?’

Henry nodded, failing to stop his smile.

Carl slapped him on the back. ‘Sweet. She’s the killer combination.’

‘Huh?’
