“Stubborn, sexy ass.” I’m not even sure if I was supposed to hear those words, but I feel them in the intensity with which he stares at me.

“You’re mine, end of story. I have the bachelor bake-off in the bag. Savvy trivia? Easy. Chili for charity, I can do in my sleep. Build-a-date, I’ll figure out as I go. But Cupid cowboy and who wants to woo the sweetheart are my sticky points. I’ve never wooed anyone in my entire life. Line dancing feels cult-like. But I’ll figure out how to win both, even if I have to make myself a fool to do it.”

He laces his hand through mine and leads me toward the parking lot.

“Until then, we’ve got some speed dating to get through.”

It takes a moment for his words to register, and when they do, I dig in my heels.

“Speed dating? What are you talking about?”

“Exactly what it sounds like. Madi and Clover will be at our house in an hour to help.”

Traitors. Neither of them said anything to me.

“Help with what?”

Grey holds open the passenger door of his brand-new SUV. “I’m going to learn how to woo you, and to do that, I need to know every fantasy rolling around in that big head of yours. The girls are coming over to facilitate a practice run of who wants to woo.”

“That’s cheating.” I huff but slide into his passenger seat. “Madi is a cohost at the live event. She can’t give you the questions ahead of time.”

“I’m not asking for the questions ahead of time, I’m asking them to prepare me for anything and everything they think I should know to win.”

“That’s still chea?—”

The asshole slams the door before I can finish my sentence.

“It’s not cheating,” he says when he gets behind the wheel. “It’s a cram session.”

“Oh my God. It’s the same freaking thing.”

His hand lands on my upper thigh, and the fight drains out of me.

For better or worse, Greyson is taking a crash course in all things me.

And part of me hopes he’s still here after the final exam.

CHAPTER THIRTY

GREYSON

“Jesus,Grey. What did you do? Threaten Cian and make him work around the clock to fix your house faster than anyone else’s?”

She always thinks the worst of me.

“No, smartass. It’s called money. If you’re willing to pay enough, you can make anything happen.AndI’m paying him double for finishing ours.AndI called in a company from Maryland to rebuild my garage and apartment for me so I don’t monopolize all of Cian’s time.Andas soon as the new company is done on my rebuild, I’ll pay them to help Cian catch up over in Stillwater. Any other questions that have your devious little mind hell-bent on painting me the bad guy?”

“I don’t have alittlemind.” She’s cute when she pouts.

The doorbell rings right before the door opens, and Madi walks in with Clover close behind. I forgot to lock it.

“Hey, guys.” Madi’s smile is radiant. I swear, all these women love seeing me uncomfortable.

“Hi.” I don’t elaborate because if I do, she’ll engage me for much longer than necessary. Instead, I head to the kitchen to pull out the takeout containers while the three of them speak in hushed tones not meant to reach my ears.

Is it normal to want to keep Savvy all to myself? Probably not, but the idea of sharing her makes my skin itch.

“Come get plates.” Fuck. I try again without my organic hostility. “Dinner’s ready.”
