“He really fucking thinks he’s Prince Charming, doesn’t he?”

“He’s the closest I’ve ever seen.” My smile freezes in place as Easton drops into the seat next to me.

Reaching over, he grabs my hand and turns it so my palm is facing up. Then, with his other hand, he drops the plastic ring.

“Ha, ha.” It sounds forced even to me. “Well, at least it wasn’t real, right?”

Easton stares at me with a blank expression for so long I begin to squirm in my seat.

“What do you mean it wasn’t real, Lex?”

“Well, I mean—”

“What the hell is going on between the two of you?” Preston asks as he sits down across from us.

“Nothing,” I hiss, but quickly close my palm around the ring. “Why are you so nosy?”

“I’m not nosy, darlin’, but I’m not blind either.”

“We’re fine, Pres. Shouldn’t you worry about your own girl? We just have some details to hammer out.”

“His own girl?” Preston and I whisper yell at the same time.

“I’m not anyone’s girl,” I choke out.

Easton stands so suddenly I flinch. I hate that’s my natural response, but living with Miles forced my fight-or-flight reaction, and I’m having a hard time letting it go. Just another reason running home to GG is a good idea. She might be the only one who can save me.

I’m waiting for Easton to say something when Ash interrupts. “Preston? Do you have a minute? I need to talk to you about something.”

Preston bobs back and forth between Easton and me before finally rising from his seat. Glaring at East, he issues a warning, and I hate that I’m the cause of tension between the two. “Just remember what I said, East. Don’t fuck around in the family pool.”

East steps forward, so they’re chest to chest. “Don’t issue warnings when you have no fucking clue what’s going on.”

“Guys,” Ash interrupts again. “Not here. Whatever the fuck has crawled up your asses does not need to come to a head twenty thousand feet in the air.”

Preston storms past, bumping Easton’s shoulder on the way. Preston and I have never seen eye to eye, but regardless of my bitchiness, I know he’s watching out for me. This goddamn family really has a way of making you theirs, even when you’re running and screaming as fast as you can.

“I’m too hungover to fight with you, Locket, but we have a little problem.” East grabs something from his back pocket before flopping back down next to me. Pressing a button, he unfolds a table to lay across my lap. Once it clicks into place, he slaps down some papers and a ring. A real ring. A really fucking big ring that’s decidedly not fake.

We’re married? Really, honest, and truly married? I keep running it through my head over and over again, but it doesn’t make it any easier.

The plane touches down in North Carolina way too soon for my liking, and I still don’t know what the hell to do.

“Well, come on, Missus. What the hell ya waiting for?”

Freaking GG.

“What?”

“Ya heard me, Missus. Let’s get a move on. People are waitin’ and all.”

“Why are you calling me that?” I hiss.

GG waves her fingers at me, and I realize, somehow she just knows.

“What the hell is she talking about?” Easton whispers into the back of my head.
