Easton: Of course I do. She isn’t her sister. Pacen was just a kid back then.
Ashton: She called late last night. What do you know?
Fuck. There’s no getting around it now.
Easton: Not much. Lexi spoke to her, not me. She can give you more details than I can.
Ashton: You okay?
Easton: Never fucking better.
Ashton: Did you know you would see her?
Easton: No.
Ashton: Want to talk about it?
Easton: No.
Ashton: I’m here when you change your mind. How’s Lexi?
My eyes seek her out at the mention of her name. How is she?
Easton: Hurting? Healing? I’m not fucking sure, Ash.
Ashton: But you want to know. That’s a change for you, and you know it.
Easton: …
Ashton: Fuck, sorry, dude. I didn’t know Colt was reading over my shoulder.

Welcome to the chaos-Group
Colton: Easton and Lexi sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
Preston: What the fuck, East?
Easton: Grow up, Colt, and mind your own damn business.
Preston: …
Easton: I don’t need a lecture from you, Preston. Not fucking today.
Just as the plane touches down in Charlotte, Lexi’s phone rings, and she stirs from where she’s sprawled out in the reclining seat. Perfect timing. She may think she can hide from me, but I’m done with it.
“It was bad, Ash. I don’t think she’s safe.” Lexi’s words draw me to her, and before I can put too much thought into my actions, my hand lands on the small of her back as we exit the plane. Her body tenses at the initial contact, but she doesn’t pull away, so I take that as a win for now.
Stepping into the sunshine, I glance around for my driver and am shocked to see two cars waiting on the tarmac—mine and Julia’s.What the fuck?
“Ash, can you hold for a second? … Thanks.” Turning to me, Lexi places a hand over the receiver. “I’ll see you tomorrow, East.”
“What the fuck, Lexi? Why is Julia here?”
She shrugs her shoulders without making eye contact. “Girls’ night.” I stand at the foot of the plane as she sprints to Julia, who gives me a telling wave.
Knowing there’s nothing I can do about it, I watch as she gets into Julia’s car and they drive off. Shaking my head because I seriously underestimated her avoidance skills, I take my phone out to text her.
