“I love our mountain retreat in Tahoe, and I never took myself for a mountain-life girl.”

“It would be a nice change, and we had a great time when we were there last year, all things considered.”

“Yeah.”

She knows the story about it all. Kensie, with my blessing, shared the ordeal.

“Oh. I have a surprise,” she blurts. “We are going to house hunt in the south of France.”

“What? Where?”

“Either Provence or Aquitaine.”

“I’ve never been to Aquitaine. But if you move here, I will be one of the first people to welcome you to France.”

“You and Sebastian have inspired us.”

“The thought of you and Riley moving here makes me so happy. I love that we inspired you.”

“We’ll talk more when you get here.”

“Sounds good. I have to get moving, anyway. We have a plane to catch.”

“You sure do.”

“See you soon.”

We end the call, and I search the house for Sebastian and Kayson. It doesn’t take me long to find them on the terrace overlooking the sea. Kayse’s dark hair blows in the breeze. He has a lot, like me and his father.

“Hey, guys.” I walk to them. Cloudless skies and a bright sun make for a beautiful July day.

Sebastian turns, Kayse tucked safely in his strong arms, looking so cute in his blue shirt and sailboat printed shorts.

Our baby’s sage eyes widen on me. “Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm,” he chants his version of mama. His little tan arm reaches for me.

“There she is, little man. I told you she’d find us.” Sebastian holding our baby always steals my breath. Kayson looks just like his daddy, right down to the blue starburst around his pupils, but the green color is from me.

I take his little hand and kiss his chubby fingers. “Hi, baby. Did you have a good nap?”

“Say, I did, Mama.” Sebastian bounces him with the words. “And I blew up my diaper just as Daddy picked me up.”

I laugh. “Better here than on the plane.”

“True.” Sebastian smiles. “What did Nova want?”

“She asked if Gigi could come to the birthday party.” I rub Kayse’s soft foot as he touches the scruff on Sebastian’s chin while babbling. “I said yes, of course.” It’s so nice to have friends who I can share our life with. “Oh, and she and Riley are going to buy a house here—or around here. Provence maybe.”

“No shit!” he says with excitement.

I glare at him for cursing and nod toward Kayse.

“I mean. No, way!”

I roll my eyes and snort. “Yes. They may be living here by the time we get married.”

“Two less plane tickets to pay for.” He teases and tickles Kayse’s tummy, making him giggle.

Love that sound.
