“We all will.” Dalton straightens from where he was reclining against the other getaway car—a modified Jeep Cherokee. Unsuspecting but fast.

Standing at six-four, Dalton towers over all of us. The ex-MMF fighter works for the firm, too, as an independent hire, doing private security for parties and social events. His girlfriend Malia does the same.

“Are you sure you don’t need me to go in with you?” Malia asks. “I got all dressed up.” She gestures at her Black Widow costume. The woman is as lethal as she is beautiful. A six-degree black belt.

Dalton smirks at her. “You dressed up because you love costumes. You look sexy as hell, too.” He slips an arm around her waist and kisses her temple. “But we need you with Reese in case shit goes south.”

She frowns but nods.

Reese steps away from the Jeep. “I still get to drive, right?”

“Not a chance,” Malia says. “I need to do something that makes me feel useful and you’ll be busy monitoring the operation. I’m better with hand-eye coordination than I am with the technical crap.”

Ace draws our attention with a loud clap. “Okay. Let’s go over the plan one more time. Once we’re inside, Isa will find Prescott. We’ll tail her from a safe distance. Once she gets Prescott alone, Nathan will take over. Just don’t kill the asshole,” he directs to me. “We don’t need that shit to clean up and you don’t need that on your conscience. No matter how angry you get, remember—Kensi needs you. You’re taking revenge with some ass-kicking. Nothing over the top, or I’ll step in and haul your ass out of there, which could make for a problematic escape.”

“No problems and no killing,” I assure him. I’d have to be lost in the rage of the moment to do that and it wouldn’t be intentional. I’ve beat plenty of asses in the past, drunk guys who disrespected the house or the girls at our parties. I’ve never lost my cool to the point of no control.

I add, “If there were any other way I could kick this guy’s ass, I would have done it, and not brought you all in to help, but he’s protected and anything I do can’t be connected to Kensi or her lawsuit could suffer. Thanks for agreeing to help,” I tell Isa and then say to the team, “Thanks for keeping this from your bosses. If it ever does get out, I’ll take all the heat. You have my word.”

“No problem,” Dalton says. “What he did to Kensi deserves justice.”

Malia nods. “Yeah. If it were up to me, that entitled prick would be dropped off on a deserted island and left for dead.”

Ace tsks. “Like I’d let you do this alone. You mess with one of us, you mess with us all.”

Isa murmurs, “I’m doing this for Kensi and for the way I turned my back on her. I’ll never forgive myself.”

“You should,” I say. “She’s forgiven you.”

Isa wipes away a stray tear. The girl looks so vulnerable, I almost tell her to stay with Reese. But we need her. If Prescott is in full costume, we won’t be able to pick him out of the crowd. She knows the house, too, and is the only person close enough to the prick to lure him to a private area.

“Remember,” I eye her, “don’t bring up Kensi. He can’t know this has anything to do with her. Make him think you need to talk about your ex-boyfriend, and you want him back.” She broke up with the guy after she found the video on his phone. I should beat his ass, too.

“It might not work.” She watches her foot as she kicks dirt with the toe of her boot. “He’s too egotistical to give a shit about stuff like that. I may have to hit on him.”

“We’re not asking you to do that, Isa.” I swat at a mosquito buzzing around my face. “It isn’t safe.”

“I’ll be fine. Besides, I have Ace to keep me safe.” She gazes at his bulging biceps, then at his face. In search of reassurance?

“I won’t let anything happen to you.” Confidence rings in his tone.

Reese steps forward. “It’s a damn good thing the company drones don’t have missiles because this finger is twitching to blow up the rich prick’s car.”

“We need to get going,” Ace says. “Any questions?”

Everyone shakes their heads.

“Okay. Set your watches,” he instructs, and we all touch a timer button on our company watches we’re borrowing for the night.

If Dad had a clue about what I was doing, he’d either be pissed or proud. Probably both. Hell, he may get on me for not involving him, considering this is for Kensi and her dad. One day, I’ll tell them all what I did.

“LET’S GO,” ACE says, and we depart. Reese leaves one way in the Jeep and the rest of us in the Range Rover.

The guard doesn’t even check out IDs, just waves us through along with two other cars.
