“I have an idea of the other condos from pictures, and I’ve seen the floorplans for each, including this one.”
“Oh.” She puckers her lips, and I can’t resist.
I dip my head and kiss her sweet, sweet mouth. She tastes like pineapple-flavored Chapstick. I part the seam of her willing lips and give her a quick swipe of my tongue before straightening.
“What do you think so far?” I ask, loving the dazed look in her eyes.
“It was short, not nearly enough, but my panties are wet so…” Her lips curve with a sexy smirk.
My dick shoots to attention, pressing against her belly.
She glances down, her cheeks turning pink.
Sultry and shy. What a combo. “I was referring to the condo, not the kiss.”
Her cheeks deepen in color more. “I figured.”
Chemistry clearly is not a problem for us.
“I’ll be happy with whatever you choose. It’s your condo. I want you to love it.”
“I can tell you whatever condo I pick, I’ll love as long as you’re in it.”
With a giggle, she glances away and bites her lip.
It’s coy, natural, and the sweetest thing. Harper used to try to pull that off. I never bought it. Kensi, however, has my desire firing on cylinders I never knew I had. I want to do everything for her. I want her in every way possible, and it scares the shit out of me. Strong emotions mixed with equally potent attraction. Until her, I never knew what that was like.
I kiss her forehead, not daring to tempt myself with her lips again, and thread my fingers through hers. “Come on. Let’s see the rest of this place.”
Hand in hand, we check out the office near the entrance of the condo and then a bedroom and en suite with a small walk-in closet.
“The room your mom picked for me?” Kensi sends me a knowing grin.
Alex’s features tighten with confusion. “I thought you two were a…” He wags a finger between Kensi and me.
Oh, shit. We screwed up already. Behaving like a couple in front of him when he works for my mom. Christ.I better get my head out of my pants before I ruin us for good. Now, how to fix the situation?
Kensi’s face drains of color. I can almost hear her heart pounding.
I relax into the cool demeanor I learned from Sebastian and use another tactic of his. Distraction by either shock, humor, or a disturbing combo of both.Option three it is.
“You thought we were a couple?” I ask, responding to his unfinished thought.
He gives a slow nod, his features unsure.
I slide my hands into my pockets and go for the disturbing kill. “We’re not a couple. We’re cousins.Closecousins. I mean, we don’t share a bed as much as we did when we were kids. Kensi used to insist on it. She was afraid of the dark,” I whisper indiscreetly to Alex. “We’ve been vacationing together for years, being family and all. But Kensi still likes to have a sleepover now and then. Isn’t that right, cuz?” I wink at her.
Her face is caught between humiliation and shock. It takes her a moment to compose herself, as much as she can. “No…uh…that’s not—that’s not true.” She straightens and inhales a deep breath as if she’s short on oxygen. After clearing her throat, she relaxes and smiles at Alex. “The truth is Nathan has a severe flatulence disorder. It used to scare him out of his sleep. He didn’t know he was doing it, you see? I told him I was afraid of the dark so he wouldn’t be scared to sleep alone.” She glances at me. “It’s nothing to be embarrassed about.” Her tone is motherly.
Fighting not to grin becomes the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life. I hold her gaze, telling her with my eyes,“You’re going to get it for this.”
Alex tugs at the collar of his dress shirt, his expression more disturbed than I had intended for it to be. “We should finish the tour so we can move on to the other condos. If you’ll follow me?” He turns down the hallway.
Kensi and I meet at the door, trying to exit at the same time. I step back for her to go first.
She swats my bicep and tightens her lips, a smile clear in her eyes. “You are unbelievable.”
“Me? You told him I have a flatulence disorder.” I follow her into the hallway, resisting the urge to laugh.
