“I can share, just not when it comes to you.”

“Wow.” Kinsley starts playing with the end of one of her braids. "I don't know how to respond to that."

"Because it should bother you, and it doesn't?"

"I didn't say it doesn't bother me. I just think it's bullshit that you're bullying boys away from me while who knows what you're up to. You don't see me chasing girls off from you."

"You don't need to."

"Seriously?" She cocks her head to the side, and I can tell from her expression she's starting to get pissed. Is it because she's thinking about me with another girl?

I kick my legs over the side of the bed, going straight for her. Kinsley has nowhere to go. Her ass is still pressed to my desk. I have her, dropping one of my hands on each side of her, so there is no escape.

"Jax?"

"I want to make things real clear," I tell her. "I don't settle. I go after what I want. I don't waste my time on people who don't matter. I keep my circle tight, and almost no one gets in." I stare into those gorgeous eyes of hers, our lips so damn close to one another’s. It takes all of my self-control not to lean in a few inches more and steal a kiss.

All of us had gotten that talk when we'd hit our teens. The one about not thinking with your dick. That never ends well. It always comes to bite you in the ass. You'd better know who theperson is before you put your dick inside of them and possibly tie them to us forever.

"What are you saying?" Her eyes search my face.

"There aren't any girls for you to worry about, and there won't be. So get that thought out of your pretty little head."

“No girls to worry about. There’s no way you’re that obtuse, Jax.” Kinsley lets out a laugh as though I’ve said the most ridiculous thing she’s ever heard in her life.

I do the only thing that I can at that moment. I take her mouth with mine. Not to silence her but to show her that she’s mine and she’ll be the only girl that ever will be.

Chapter Twelve

KINSLEY

Jax’s mouth takes mine, his hand cupping the back of my neck, holding me in place as his mouth moves against mine. When his tongue traces the seam of my lips, I let out a small gasp, allowing him to deepen the kiss. His hold on my neck is growing firmer but is still tender in a way I don’t understand, but I find I’m loving every single second of it.

I kiss him back, my tongue tangling with his. A predator's growl rumbles from him. Warning bells should be going off in my head. This man is dangerous, and I don’t mean physically.

Wherever Jax is, he consumes everything around him without trying. You can feel him inside of a room, all your instincts rising to be alert to the predator in the room. I should be running, but I find that’s the last thing my mind or body wants to do.

He’s too alluring to pull away from. This spark of power lights up inside of me that I have Jax in front of me, kissing me as though I’m the air he needs to breathe. He tastes of mint and something that is all him. I can’t place it, but I could almost swear it’s control.

“Oh.”

I gasp, making Jax and me jerk away from each other. I brace my hands on the desk behind me, feeling dazed. My heart is pounding in my chest.

“I guess I should have knocked.” In the doorway is a mini Cosima, smirking. I know I've seen her before. I believe her name is Nix.

"Do you need something?" Jax asks, turning to partially face her, keeping one hand on the desk, my shoulder pressed to his chest.

"Mom said you had a girl up here. I had to see for myself."

"You're not dating. I'm years older than you."

"What! That's not fair. You have a girl in your room with the door closed going at it." She throws her hands up. Yeah, she is a mini Cosima. Only this version is all fired up.

“It’s still a no on you dating,” Jax tells her.

“You can’t control what I do or stop boys from asking me out.” I almost let out a laugh, but I somehow manage to hold it in. I want to tell her that Jax actually can do exactly that. I’m living proof. But I don’t say a word because this is brother-sister stuff.

Silence stretches in the room as the two of them stare each other down.
