He chuckled. “Like that would even matter. I can’t think about anyone else besides you.”

“Very good answer.”

“I hope you like your ring for now. I intend to get you the big diamond you deserve, but with less than twenty-four hours, it was kind of impossible.”

My eyes rounded. “Don’t you dare. I love this one. It’s perfect, and it’s just my style.”

“So, I didn’t do so bad?”

“You did great.” I kissed him and whispered, “You’re my husband now.”

“And you’re my wife.”

“So, what are you going to do about it?”

There was no missing the heat and desire in my tone. And judging by the way his eyes darkened, it was obvious Beau was prepared to show me exactly what he wanted to do. But first, he set me down on my feet, took me by the hand, and kissed the back of it as we walked towardwhere he’d parked. “I think the proper thing, the gentlemanly thing, to do is to take you out for a really nice dinner first.”

My feet stopped moving, and I narrowed my eyes on him.

Beau had no choice but to stop and look back at me. His lips were twitching. “Everything okay?”

“I don’t think it’d be good for us to start our marriage off with a fight.”

His brows shot up. “A fight? Why would we be fighting?”

“My hormones have been all over the place for weeks now, and I haven’t had one ounce of physical pleasure for even longer than that. As my husband, it’s now your duty to make sure I don’t have to endure such atrocities.”

With one hand still holding mine, Beau’s other hand flew to the center of his chest as he bowed slightly. “My apologies. As you’ll recall, this is new for me. Please, allow me to correct such a grave error in judgment and take you home instead.”

“That would be appreciated.”

In one swift movement, Beau slipped his arm behind my back, the other going under my legs as he lifted me off the ground. I let out a cry of surprise, but I was grinning the entire way back to the car.

Maybe we hadn’t said those three words to one another yet, but Beau was doing everything right that I got the feeling they wouldn’t be far away.

When Beau toldme he was going to take me home, I had suspected he was going to drive right to my apartment.

He didn’t.

We pulled into his driveway instead.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“I thought you wanted me to bring you home and ravish you.”

“Yes, but I didn’t realize we were coming here.”

He pulled to a stop and turned off the vehicle. “Is it… Do you not want to be here?”

“I don’t mind it at all.”

“Good. Because I want you to move in.”

“What?”

Beau took my hand between his and held it up to his lips. He kissed each of my fingers. “You’re my wife now, Jules. I think we should be living together.”

Obviously, that made sense.
