A missing person report was opened on June 27th for Caroline Bishop

- Last seen on her 21st birthday camping trip at Thousand Hills Park
- Friends report meeting a group of male campers on the trail
- Male campers are all members of the Crescent Pack from Illinois

- All four men had alibis, but I know they’re involved—just not sure how
- Unsolved
A missing woman Dad linked to the Crescent Pack? That upped the ante for sure. I trusted my dad’s gut, so if he thought these dudes had a hand in the disappearance, I wasn’t going to argue. The fact the Crescent Pack was a co-planner on The Gathering with Alpha Reynolds was not lost on me.
My stomach turned as I opened thenext file.
A missing person report was opened on August 18th for Angela Chase
- From Seattle, Washington
- Attended Northeast Missouri State
- Last seen in the library on campus
- The trail went cold at the Crescent border
- Pack officials weren’t cooperative
- The local authorities said they had no evidence of a kidnapping
Bishop was jotted in the margins of the report.
Taking a woman off campus? Those pricks had gotten bolder. I promised myself that these fuckers would pay. Dad linked Chase with Bishop, so I did the same in my comprehensive notes. It was repetitive, but Dad had always taken handwritten notes of typed official reports. He said you can discover something just by processing the information in a different way, that it helped to inscribe it in your mind.
I grabbed a glass of ice water, giving myself a moment of reprieve before opening the next file.
A missing person report was opened on November 29th for Laura Palmer
- Blue Moon Pack
- Last seen at the Black Friday sale at Walmart
- The trail went all the way to Kentucky to the Coal Pack border
- Request to search Coal Pack lands was denied
- Regional Power upheld the denial due to “lack of evidence”
- Old Church? Alphas of Crescent and Coal Packs are cousins
I’d fucking known Laura. She was prom queen my junior year. Guilt weighed on me as I realized the pack had forgotten about her. Worse,Ihad forgotten about her. What kind of gamma forgets a missing member? I was truly a piece of shit.
I read through eight missing person reports before Sarah called me, saying they had made it to Kirksville. I had three days alone to unravel the mystery that even my dad couldn’t solve.
As the front door unlocked, I opened a file dated August 4th.
