“Barftown, guys. Keep it in your sick pants.”
Sarah stuck her tongue out. “Don’t be that way. It’s not like we haven’t walked in on you and Zach in some compromising positions. Have you forgotten about the coffee table?”
Broken wood. Splinters in very uncomfortable places. A very good time.
I tipped my water bottle at them. “Point taken. Are we still going to Marie’s at two to set up the engagement party? Are you feeling up to it?”
“Sure, Michael’s overreacting. I sneezed twice, but I’m not one to turn down the princess treatment.”
Michael beamed down at Sarah and kissed her nose. “I justwant you to feel your best. We have a long weekend ahead of us. Can’t have the future Mrs. with a red nose.”
“I’m going to leave you two to whatever caring kink this is—” I gestured to the lack of space between them. “And go shower. I’ll be back for that soup.”
I took the stairs two at a time, hoping to catch a glimpse of Zach in all his glory. Busting into my bedroom like the Kool-Aid man, I caught my guy drying off, his delectable backside getting a quick rubdown.
He glanced over his shoulder. “Enjoying the show?”
“I really am.” I pointed at his ass. “I think you missed a spot, though.”
“Oh, yeah?” When I was a step away, he offered me the towel. “Care to lend a hand?”
Spotting a bead of water slowly moving between his shoulder blades, I caught it with my tongue and licked up to his neck, where I bit down. Hard.
“Damn it, Les. Don’t start something we can’t finish. I need to get to my parents’ house.”
“Shit, I forgot.” I sighed, disappointed we couldn’t have some fun. “Fine. Go be the perfect beta son. I’ll just be thinking about you while I’m in the shower.” I walked backwards toward the door, never breaking eye contact.
Zach looked indecisive. “I guess I could be?—”
“No, no. You need to talk to your parents. You’ve been making excuses to them for weeks. Your dad steps down in a few months, and there’s a lot to sort out.”
Zach tossed the towel down and slid up his boxer briefs. The smile on his face made me melt. He was so beautiful. “Gee, I wonder what’s had me so distracted.”
I moved closer to him.
Maybe we can get something quick in before he has to go.
“Are you sure you don’t want to come? Mom’s really looking forward to having you over again. You haven’t visited since we’ve been together, together.”
That stopped me dead in my tracks.
He glanced down, running his hand through his wet curls. “Fuck, it’s weird for me to say that, isn’t it? I made it weird.”
“No, you’re fine. I’m sorry if I’m being difficult. I’m just not ready to be over at your parents’ as the girlfriend. We’ve only been together a few months, right?” I chewed the inside of my cheek as I stepped closer. “Add to that, you and your dad will be planning your beta takeover, and that’s a lot, you know?” Running my fingertips down his arm, I sighed. “Besides, I need to help Sarah set up the engagement party. We want everything in place for tonight.”
Zach exhaled and pulled me into him. His skin was damp and hot under my palms. “Fine, but we’ll make dinner plans with my parents soon. Low pressure, high reward. Mom gets to see you, and you get to play the devoted girlfriend. Deal?”
“Deal. Thanks for understanding.” He gave me a sweet little kiss, and I kicked the door closed with my foot. “Now, let me show you just how devoted I am.” Winking at him, I sank to my knees.
He was laughing at my corny porn line until his semi-stiffy was reintroduced to my mouth. That shut him up pretty damn fast.
I wiped the sweat from my forehead. Who knew making a party pretty was grunt work? Sarah owed me big time. “I think those are all the chairs we need. The only thing left to do is get you beautiful, lady.”
“Thank you for helping. This would have been a nightmare otherwise.”
“No problem. I’m glad Brandon and I could get down here early. One perk of having your alpha by the balls? He willingly takes over bureaucratic bullshit.” Smugnessradiated off Emily. “Brandon hasn’t had to meet with the Regional Powers once since your trip. It’s been all Aiden.”
Sarah chuckled as she walked up to the house, leaving the two of us alone.
